Having a new painter on the Joy of Painting show seems like a much more authentic and respectful way to continue Bob's legacy, rather than the insane amount of Bob Ross merch that's sold. I think he'd be happier to see a man like Nic follow in his footsteps than having his likeness commercialized.

Yasha Tovah You haven't a clue. Ross was a MASTER businessman and understood the importance of merchandising and branding. For instance, he hated his afro, but kept it all those years because it had so much importance in the branding - as in his likeness on his products. The business was HIS, and he built it into a multi-million dollar one very quickly. I'll bet he'd be ecstatic that the business is so strong a quarter-century after his passing. Despite what you may think, even Bob Ross didn't find money to be a bad thing. Do some research and find out about the man before you post such silliness.

@Battury
@Battury 4 жыл бұрын
Bob built his brand with a keen eye. He was quite the stickler about how the show was produced, how his merchandise was handled, and what his image was. Business sense is not a bad or evil thing, and indeed Bob had an excellent business sense. In my opinion, so long as his name isn't tarnished and he continues to be a bright spot in an often dark world, I don't mind if his estate continues to live and make money off of the joy he brought-and still brings- to people.

@@ZeffiesMC well after his death Disney and Sony immediately got into heated character license problems. Not only that but in the MCU now instead of honoring his work they just tokenize it. By either sex swapping, race swapping, ir gender swapping a character for as they say “representation” which is dumb. Why turn a white character black when their are plenty characters that they can use that are already black and vice versa. I have no problems with anybody for anything but it just gets annoying. Like their are storylines for specific characters that are great and but they just decided to completely change the character. Like in Black Widow, they gender swapped Task Master and who with comic book fans is a really liked character, but they literally made him a girl which amounted to nothing. If they would have at least done something more with it then it’d at least be ok. And but that’s the thing when it comes to tokenizing a character, it’s ok to do so if you plan to actually make something out of it and not just doing it just because you can like the MCU. Many true comic fans absolutely hate the MCU, I’m not that deep into it and I just casually enjoy some things of the MCU but I could never fully get into the MCU because of the just shear disrespect to the comics. The MCU instead of caring about the source material, would rather just appeal to new audiences and completely disregard comic fans 🤷‍♂️

@CalculusKai 2 жыл бұрын
@@demontiming3234 changing a gender, race, or sexuality does not change the story line my dude. You can appreciate both the original comics and the MCU, after all it’s technically it’s own universe. Chill out, they’re good movies and TV shows, just let them be good movies and TV shows

DrunkRamen the Bob Ross company screwed over his family big time after his death and kept them from using his name or earning any money from his legacy. Ask where his son is... cause he’s the only one who should be doing this reboot except he’s not allowed and was sued after Bob died... Bob would be cursing these pieces of garbage for everything they took from his family.

Thats because its been heavily edited to reflect positive advertisement. I am strongly against this project for there are others before him that have tried but have been sued. This guy is a bully in the business world suing those who cant fight back. He tosses his money around to create a sense of "legacy". This guy is a fake money hungry bully. He deservs to be exposed for his aggressive practices and does not deserve the advertisement being allowed by this channel. This is wrong, unstopable but still very wrong to the memory of Bob.

I didn't see the live but I often see people with no manners posting on the internet. People can be savages. I think Bob Ross would have been proud to see this man follow in his footsteps. I didn't know Bob Ross personally so I can't say that for sure but I know I would be honored if somebody followed in my footsteps in such a way. I hope he doesn't pay attention to all the mean comments and it's 2020 so I wish after so many years of the internet being in existence that people would remember that manners are still necessary even if you aren't actually faced with someone in person. Some of the things some people post are absolutely horrible and uncalled for. It's one thing to have an opinion but being a jerk isn't beneficial to anyone and it can actually be very hurtful to some people. It's too bad people can't hold themselves to a higher standards and treat each other with respect and constructive criticism instead of being downright mean. @@zarrowthehorse that's exactly what makes nick special. He is a way different painter than bob Ross. They can't be compared. But even tho they are both unique and different painters, he still has the Bob Ross feeling. But still, nothing can best Bob Ross

for those thinking otherwise: this is not a replacement. it’s a way of remembering what Bob did, and spreading all the love and fun he wanted people to have. please don’t hate on this, i believe it’s beautiful and meaningful.

Helen Heins the Bob Ross company screwed over his family big time after his death and kept them from using his name or earning any money from his legacy. Ask where his son is... cause he’s the only one who should be doing this reboot except he’s not allowed and was sued after Bob died... Bob would be cursing these pieces of garbage for everything they took from his family.

Bob Ross is more than just an artist..I found myself smiling as he painted..I don't even paint.His legacy is important for so many reasons..not least to inspire young artists to enjoy painting as much as to master it.Following Bob is an impossible task but this is a brave and essential attempt to reconnect to a much loved man and format that somehow remains timeless.RIP Bob.

He is a natural. No pretending or imitating Bob Ross. Did a marvellous job. Nic Hankins can definitely keep Bob Ross Dream Alive. We need more painting videos featuring him. :)

P I think he is saying he is not trying to replace bob Ross. Sure, he copied the style of paintings, but the series wouldn’t be about bob ross if he wouldn’t. Plus he mentions bob ross and it further proves he isn’t replacing him.

@P That is exactly what I was doing. In this video he is a bit shy to express himself fully in order not to overdo it and show himself on the bad side. He is certified Bob Ross teacher so it is natural that he will be doing it in the same way first to show that HE IS CERTIFIED BOB ROSS TEACHER. At the end of the video when he creates the water - it is absolutely beautiful and his own way, that can be clearly seen. And in the second video - he is just himself being happy that fans still love Bob Ross' work and that he can safely show his own skills while commemorating Bob at the same time. That's why I like his approach to the fans. So again... I don't know which video did you watch.

Honestly you all are arguing about that he's the legend you want him to be, and sob about it, yet many of you forget he's trying his best delivering this to us. Seriously at this point, it's like nobody wants the something great anymore
