Come Christmas, you'll be hearing this beautiful song once again...

How about Christmas No 1 for 2024? Some songs - only a very few - are timeless legends, and this one truly is! For me it’s a step up from McCartney, and the words are so appropriate today. Freiheit for Glastonbury 2025? Best ever 💪😻☀️💖

OMG this is what songwriting is all about! So few songs these days have this beautiful structure and the harmonies!...And yes it DOES sound like ELO meets the great Paul McCartney.
@gregorheinrich2 жыл бұрын
as someone had said: "the best song Paul McCartney never wrote". And indeed: Stefan Zauner, the main composer in MF, is great in harmonies. Just check out also the solo stuff he did the last 8 years or so since he left MF.

It is a wonderful song, one that I must have heard over a thousand time - literally! Which tells me that this was not a true live performance since it was identical to the album. What I want to know it what happened to the original film clip of musicians without instruments and instruments without musicians. It used to be on You Tube but I cannot find it anymore. It was a brilliant clip totally in keeping with the brilliance of the song.

Keeping the Dream Alive Liedje van Münchener Freiheit OVERZICHT SONGTEKSTEN LUISTEREN ANDERE OPNAMEN MENSEN ZOEKEN OOK NAAR Songteksten Tonight the rain is falling Full of memories of people and places And while the past is calling In my fantasy I remember their faces The hopes we had were much to high Way out of reach, but we have to try The game will never be over Because we're keeping the dream alive I hear myself recalling Things you said to me the night it all started And still the rain is falling Makes me feel the way I felt when we parted The hopes we had were much to high Way out of reach, but we have to try No need to hide, no need to run 'Cause all the answers come one by one The game will never be over Because we're keeping the dream alive I need you I love you The game will never be over Because we're keeping the dream alive The hopes we had were much to high Way out of reach, but we have to try No need to hide, no need to run 'Cause all the answers come one by one The hopes we had were much to high Way out of reach, but we have to try No need to hide, no need to run 'Cause all the answers come one by one The game will never be over Because we're keeping the dream alive The game will never be over Because we're keeping the dream alive The game will never be over Mmh-mmh-mmh-mmh-mmh-mmh-mmh-mmh-mmh

Same. After my mum and I initially thought it was Paul McCartney (I was 11 playing this guessing game in 1988 when we'd hear it on radio, but never caught the DJ saying who it was). So my mum gave me a huge love for ELO,because she was so convinced it was Jeff Lynne singing. Then we had the Travelling Wilburys, which were amazing. So much talent and beautiful music in the late 80s and it's so seldom really acknowledged.

not bad for a group of men who can't speak English at least when they made this song it had to be transliterated from German to sounding like English sort of like the early music of ABBA.
