On this episode of Mega Mechanics, trek outback to the New Acland Mine where temperatures are soaring and an old hand on the tools, Steve, is faced with a new challenge. A huge engine needs a change out, but an unscheduled delay means it will take more than just manpower to move this mass of horsepower. The stakes are even higher, or rather, heavier at the broad water sugar mill where the lead fitter Peter is guiding his team through a dangerous lift. With only a few days remaining to strip the mill, he’s feeling the crush.
Across Australia, the wheels of industry turn 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These machines are tough and the teams of people running them are even tougher. From deep underground, to high in the sky, these heavy metal marvels are essential to our daily lives. But, what happens when these massive machines break down? Teams of mechanics, engineers, fitters, and boilermakers step up to battle against tight deadlines, in some of the harshest working environments on the planet.

You make it sound way more difficult than it is. These are very easy to work on. Not much too them. They are way simpler than most cars.

The way the narrator explained why the train wheels need maching. Absolutely no mention of why the wheels aren't flat they are conical.

When you rush jobs , mistakes are invariably made. I don't understand why the train maintenance isn't done at night so they aren't pushed by a day time schedule . This seems much safer.

High power engine runs on aircraft should only be carried out above concrete, never above asfalt, it can cause the top layer of asfalt to come of and damage the plane.

Show is produced for the average viewer, not viewers like us, they wouldn't understand the majority of information any way, got to take what we get... As a former video producer, I find the damn doors slamming shut and opening annoying.....just a junior designer thinking it's Kool I guess. Cheers, PB
