Well congratulations on the new old combine. A lot of times I buy straw out of the field from my neighbor who has a 9500 John Deere. I have a 336 John Deere baler and it's not that the baler can't bale the volume of straw so much as the pickup head is to small. And some times it's to small for double windrowed first cutting hay too. One thing I have seen a couple of guys do is bolt a plate of steel on both sides of the discharge area that leaves the windrow a little narrower and that works good.

Hi from England. I had a Laverda combine (now called Massey Ferguson) made in Italy. It had a cab fitted but the air conditioning was shot. The fan still worked though, it blew filtered air into the cab from outside and pressurized it so I wasn't too hot and was out of the dust. So I wouldn't worry too much about your air conditioning, as long as the combine itself is in decent shape you'll be ok.

I see the auction number on the steps, maybe 6 or 7 years back there was a L3 identical to this at Macfaddens auction in NY. Wonder if this is it
@839Unipicker9 ай бұрын
Could be. It has low hours on an engine overhaul, which was another selling point.

No need to compare. You are asking what works for your operation. The neighbors have much larger over head with trying to support 3 families. They need to do things differently.

@@839Unipickerwow that’s a tempting price ! I bought a new idea two row picker at auction this spring replace the collection of 3 one rows in the hedge for parts. $660 Now the grounds so wet after corn finally dried down here in central NY the rocks are floating hahaha . 3 acres of corn isn’t much but it is when your cutting by hand because machines won’t be getting to it anytime soon. Hand cut 15 rows by hand last year when last single row picker shuddered to her demise last fall.
