Hello bud. I'm a huge fan of your outdoor enclosures. I am a snake and reptile keeper myself and I believe this closely replicates the snakes natural environment and provides the snakes with a very good quality of life in comparison to indoor enclosures. Obviously not all snake keepers have the space or the funds to have such enclosures and of course the weather plays a big part but I support your methods.

inspiring!! Just incredible! I keep spotted turtles outside in the uk in a large enclosure. I have snakes inside, but once you start to keep outside you want everything to be outside!! It gives them the opportunity to act naturally. I love it!

We have the Vipera Adder & the Natrix Natrix Grass Snake here in the UK. We also get the Smooth Snake which is a rare protected species & now the Ascelapean Snake has started to be established in areas around the uk, Wales mostly but there has been some sightings of them in one of the parks in London, there is a video of it here on KZbin.

Beautiful video, this has really opened up my perspective! Can I ask how feeding is done with the vipera? I imagine it might be hard to feed frozen thawed without being able to reliably access all of the snakes. Are live feeders simply introduced periodically?
@terrariumchannel4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. But with the feeding response of Vipera feeding FT is absolutely no problem actually. Most just take directly from long tongs too monitor everyone feeding and are observed whilst they eat.

Wow great to see them kept outside. I get adders in my garden from time to time, also a lot of slow worms. Can I ask how the vipers are fed in a colony format in their outside enclosure.Thanks.
@terrariumchannel4 жыл бұрын
Most are very reactive when they see the feeding tongs and just come out. Everyone gets Froze Thawed and take it from the tongs, or some is scattered along the setup under supervision.

So the sun is all they need huh all natural no lamps ? Could you do this for lizards or no
@terrariumchannel4 жыл бұрын
The sun is WHAT they need. We use lamps when we need to compensate for the lack of Sun. Meaning when we keep animals inside, or keep animals in a climate that does not have the same exposure etc as their natural habitat. Yes this could be done for lizards. Depending on the climate you live in, and the natural climate of the lizards. I would not try this with a Iguana in Denmark..

Is it possible to keep native nonvenomous snakes in the open area or must they be lidded to prevent escape attempts?
@terrariumchannel4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Even if its native and non venomous. Escapes must be prevented at all times. Simply to prevent you loosing your animal, prevent harm to others(in case its venomous) harm to the snake, or introducing a possible unknown patogenand/or diceace into the wild population.

@terrariumchannel4 жыл бұрын
They indeed turn with age. But not all will. There are also many Vipera aspis atra with a very grey basecolor and deep black pattern. Or more brownisch animals. But almost all have a lot of red along the underside of the head and begin neck.
@terrariumchannel4 жыл бұрын
I have also seen young that never "turned" whilst both parents where melanistic. And you also have melanistic animals that still show pattern. Whilst others are solid black.
