I believe this experience has helped me grow in ways I could have never experienced in a non-withdrawal situation. I am not the same person as before I started these meds, and I think once I'm healed I will be an even better version of myself.

That's a great outlook to have, Lin. And it's true. During this rough process, we are forced to care for and develop ourselves. So we learn a lot that serves us well for the rest of our life. Withdrawal involves pain, but once we accept that there will be a little pain for a while, we can get on with the business of developing determination and a plan to move forward toward something better.

I'm looking for an apartment. for seniors. it's stressful with my DUI record. recovering alcoholic. haven't dran, k in 4 years when I get out I walk walk walk, it lowers stress. and sit and relax in the park close by.thanks for your blessing. it's sick! I went through severe withdrawal off of Seroquel and Zyprexa. I was on the highest dose possible of Seroquel and a high dose of Zyprexa. Due to a newly discovered heart disorder I had to come off both of them cold turkey. It was freaking hell. A year off of them and I am still going through it trying to find a medication that works. This is freaking hell. Because of my heart condition there is only a few medications that I can take now and I'm not talking just psych meds I'm talking any kind of medication I can't even take Benadryl. I suffer from something called Long QT syndrome.

Hi, thank goodness I found you! I was on Paxil for 20 years at a low dose. After awhile it stopped working for me...long story short and after being switched several other SSRIs I decided to stop all together. I was aware that I needed to slowly wean off I did it in about 2months. I’ve been off Paxil now for 5 months and still experience withdrawal. The doctor says it isn’t possible....I’m a mess and petrified that I’ll never be well again. Has anyone experienced Paresthesia? The internal nervousness and tingling? It’s driving me crazy the dr says it’s anxiety and it will go away on its own. I’ve had it for months now. Could it be part of the withdrawal?

You’ve been extremely helpful in this process. I’ve been on Effexor for 12 years and when it changed the person I was I weened off only to be thrust into crippling anxiety and insomnia. Only to crawl back to psych meds again and go through the mill of over 18 different medications in 5 years all having horrible effects on me. I’m finally down to 25 mg. of nortriptyline and .5 of klonopin, dealing with extreme burning and pain in nerves , bouts of depression and de realization. Working hard changed my diet exercising practicing chi kung taking supplements. It’s scary though and feel very hopeless most of the time. Thankyou for your encouragement.

Lauri, yes a spiritual life is so important. I especially focused on Gospel messages of healing and hope, on Psalms of comfort, and on short devotional readings that were soothing, things that could get a positive thought into my head and heart before I began a difficult day. @@vwalker1040 my taper went with true grit and determination to get off of this poison. It’s a process, each day is a win. It’s takes time, took me months. What else I did, was get more exercise. Walk, ride a bike, swim. Something to tire you out. Focus on perhaps a new hobby, reading, finding a new skill. Takes my mind of not looking at clock. For pill consumption. I sleep so much better now, and naturally. When I say months like 10 months or more. Some folks take longer, some shorter. You got this, YOU CAN WIN this. Recently went to a new doctor in my area. Saw in my files WAS prescribed this poison. Did mention to new doctor, patients should be aware of addiction. Stated never want this or any other addicting pills. Do your withdrawal slow. Hey there, I am in month for after four years on different medications. I have very severe derealization/depersonalization. How long would you say those symptoms were super severe for you? It’s very scary and life as I knew it seems so unfamiliar and otherworldly
@TheLovelyGrind
@TheLovelyGrind 2 жыл бұрын
Timelines are different for everyone and involve a lot of different variables. I can't say for certain how long a specific symptom was severe for me, and it wouldn't necessarily apply to you or anyone else anyway. I can say that the dp/dr got better gradually and will for you too given more time. I talk about this quiet a bit. Give it more time, and also find self-care and lifestyle habits that help you to feel "connected" on a more regular basis - connected with body, mind, soul, and future in a good way!

These two classes of meds each have their own problems, but I will say that the antidepressant withdrawal can be even more challenging in some ways. I still can't believe that our society ever accepted the idea that these medications were a good idea for the general population. They change the way we think, feel, and process information and emotions, so it is like signing ourselves away in some respects. They aren't solutions for anything, but rather Trojan horses that are carrying a whole army of symptoms and destructive forces. Take care!

@@khajababu1403 I couldn't say if you should or shouldn't get off meds, that is a personal decision, but I can say that it is possible to get off these drugs if a person is willing to care for themselves and make improvements in lifestyle and mindset, etc. And you must be patient as you work through the life changes you want to make. I'm not looking for supplements to be a cure, but do things like GABA, 5HTP, magnesium, etc help with pronounced symptoms? I realize these should be combined with exercise and other lifestyle changes and not viewed as a miracle cure.
@TheLovelyGrind
@TheLovelyGrind 3 жыл бұрын
I think that if a person is drawing up a pie chart of what things will lead to healing and ultimately make the biggest difference in his or her wellness, happiness, and state of mind, supplements would make up a very small portion of that pie, maybe 10-15 percent. That being said, if you are doing the other, more important things for yourself, then the right supplement could give an edge or help things out. Personally, I think that fish oil and vitamin D are important, especially vitamin D for people who have come off meds and don't get a lot of natural sunlight because of geography or whatever. Hope that helps!

What are your thoughts on other medications to help with benzo withdrawal? I haven't taken anything yet and it's been 10 months. Do you advise it?
@TheLovelyGrind
@TheLovelyGrind 5 жыл бұрын
I don't advise it. Again, everyone must make an individual decision about such things, but my thinking is that, by definition, How can a medication "help" with withdrawal, because each med will eventually have its own withdrawal. That is a slippery slope that leads away from a solution, in my mind. So try to avoid it if you can. Take care!

Many people can't sit still and just "be," and this human problem comes to a head during withdrawal as restlessness amps up! The more we can work on ways to be present and content, the more our healing and health will progress! Take care!

I was wondering how long you waited to taper xanax after your paxil taper? How long did you taper the paxil for?
@TheLovelyGrind
@TheLovelyGrind 6 ай бұрын
Paxil taper was very quick, not recommended. Longer Xanax taper (over a year) and began it basically as I was finishing the Paxil. Hope that helps.

@@TheLovelyGrind Thanks! Yeah that's going to be a really rough time. I've been on 20mg paxil for 20 years and wanted to try going off. I started a taper about 10 years ago without knowing about withdrawals (doctors said it's not bad). I went from 20 to 15 and for the first 2 weeks I was ok with just brain zaps. then week 3 I got horrible insomnia, and bad anxiety and went back up to 20.... I want to try again, and this time my eyes are open to it being difficult.

I went back on medication and 1 1/2 months and I’m still not adjusted. Why can’t I feel? I have no empathy no emotions I’m down I’m afraid can’t go anywhere

Mary, the emotions come back. It is very common for medications to take away our emotional experiences for a while, then they eventually come flooding back. I know your particular situation is complex, but you will get your emotions back eventually. Don't be afraid of not being able to do things. Try to do some things anyway. Don't let fear defeat you. Take care.

Thank you. I would think I would be better by now especially since I’m back on the medication. My worse symptoms are fear - being paralyzed and no emotions. Can’t cry and don’t care. It’s so horrible and I hope I get back to the way I was. I was such a happy person even while taking cymbalta. I just wanted to see if I could be without an antidepressant. It’s okay if I need them but I wonder when I will stabilize. Just so hard and scary. Thank you.

@@theowalcott102 I am doing great! I am back to my old self and I am still taking 30mg cymbalta. I have emotions, I can cry, I can laugh, I enjoy life and I am back at work since October 1. I think we all can heal and if we need an antidepressant we should use it. We don't know what others do in their life that might cause the antidepressant to be adverse. For instance, I am sober and do not drink alcohol or do any mind altering drugs, nor do I drink any caffeine, etc. so I feel that my antidepressant can work properly. Everyone needs to decide what works best for them and not let others decide for them. Do what your body tells you. God bless and peace and one love! Happy New Year - 2019. To a happy and most importantly HEALTHY new year.
