My wife and I have been watching you guys for a while now. You guys were such an inspiration for us that we bought our first floating house on Norris Lake yesterday. We rented out our first home and plan to live full time on the lake. What an amazing lifestyle! Thanks for sharing your lives with the world.

Haha a houseboat is a boat you can live on, and this isn’t a boat in any way, so actually it’s neither. it’s a “floating cabin”, technically and legally. But that’s much more of a mouthful than houseboat or boathouse, so folks use those and many other technically incorrect terms interchangeably oftentimes (exactly like you just did), and who does that hurt? 😅 Lol we all know what one another means!

Wow, I imagine it was a workout trying to give Iko a bath, as well! I kept envisioning Iko almost falling off the deck as she was shaking herself dry! Sorry about the caulk gun. Tell Brandon he better get some type of lanyard on that new nail gun, quick! Glad y’all were able to get the tedious stuff out of the way…it was well worth it. The cabin looks fantastic! It’s all coming together so nicely guys. The little details are going a long way! I think it would be cool to see some braided rope incorporated into the columns or trim pieces somehow. Boy, that WAS a lot of tedious work, but wow, it sure paid off! It looks beautiful! Those beefed-up columns really do make a difference! The dividing boards on front should be your sailors coat.... Give. You more definition... And does look good

Thank you! We felt painting all the battens sailors coat would make it look choppy! Maybe if the trim were a softer color closer to the body color so the contrast wasn’t so stark 🤔 but we do have a fun plan for adding another finishing touch to that front gable area that will really make it pop! The cabin looks great decked out in the sailer blue(s)💙! ... We had a lil' pomeranian named Jasper who ate a dead 🐸 frog one time. 😬🤢 I'll spare ya the aftermath details. 🙄 And on 3 seperate occasions he came in from goin' potty and REEKED of elephant dung, COVERED IN IT!!! We were clueless. Come to find out, he had a HUGE snappin' 🐢 living under our shed & he was goin'over there & rollin' in his poo. 😮 Omy 💩 Can't wait to see the inside of the cabin come together. I truly love what you have done with the place! Our lake in the PNW no longer allows float houses, fortunately we have a little cabin on a piece of land - but I wish we could live in a float cabin. Your life looks like so much fun.

Aww bummer! Was it because of environmental issues or why? We’ve had a lot of issues here (people dumping septic into the lake, floatation and other house materials littering the lake) that have threatened the future of floating houses here too. It’s so unfortunate that not everyone is responsible with their homes and the few can ruin it for all.. such a great lifestyle when done with respect! 💚💚

Our lake is now owned by the local Indian tribe, and they make the rules. They have limited dock size, so everyone gets about 200 sq. ft. per lot of land and that really limits the size of any dock or floating 'object' you have in the water in front of your lot. If you have an old floating house - they will let you keep it, but will not let you put new float logs etc., under it to keep it afloat. Sooo, if you start to sink - that is it. @@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses

It would take a natural disaster of epic proportions to sink one of these, just like it would all the houses on land lol, you definitely wouldn’t be asleep! 😅

All dogs descended from wolves and are carnivores. You can't train them out of genetic instincts. We had the sweetest loving dog when I was a kid, but if she saw an animal, especially a deer and could get loose when we were camping, she would eventually come back, but became a wild animal herself for a while. Their brains don't relate past actions with current results, as is the case with human addicts.
