@@Toydvoid9090 best is not to have shrimp with any fish. Betta usually attack them, but at the least the babies or smaller shrimp will be an easy food source for fish.

I’ve only had some shrimp since late November/ early December. I got them I got 6 for one tank (3 red, 3 black) sadly lost one (red) - those are in blackwater. I got four for the other tank blue ones- two of them turned green next minute I looked today and there’s baby blue shrimp all of my tank! I haven’t had them long enough, nor do I have enough shrimp for it to have supposedly worked, but there you go! The tank is pretty bad for getting full of algae because it’s got a very big strong powerful light for such a small tank. It’s not a nano tank but it is small, so I’ve been keeping the blue light setting on. I don’t know if that’s helping in anyway, but it certainly has helped it not get over run by algae, so I’m wondering if that’s created like peaceful conditions but also made it so the baby shrimp, especially since they are blue, have been able to hide easier. The fish and the micro crabs, as well as the adult shrimp seem to be totally leaving them alone, which is awesome!!

I like your simple setup. A proper breeding tank shouldn't have much stuff in it. No soil means no waste build ups and no hard scape means nothing leacks into the water and change your pH, gh or kh. Even simple rock can slowly change your water parameters and shrimps like stable water parameters.

@cyborg_amp Жыл бұрын
Very small rasbora species like chili rasbora and exclamation point rasboras would be a good choice, but if you're trying to breed shrimps, it's good to have just a shrimp tank with no other fish. You should also introduce you're shrimp first to your set up so they can have some time to build a colony befor you get your fish, so if fish eat shrimps here and there, it won't affect the colony of shrimps.
@setlenbolstenderods1617 Жыл бұрын
Try mollies or guppies, you may also try platies, they're all cool & chillin' with my shrimp in my tank, safe.
@Mg0936 Жыл бұрын
Just Create a lots of habitat rocks,plant beds, etc for them to hide. Some will get eaten but will breed enough to still multiply in the tank.
@RedCyanPhotos11 ай бұрын
Neon tetras, small rasbora, lamp eye, stuff like that you’re normally okay with. I’ve currently got baby shrimp in my tank purely accidental. Only had them like a month and only have four in there (as in adult shrimp) so I was pretty shocked. They also live with Thai micro crabs, they all just totally leave it alone which is cool. The advice of guppies? No! Please don’t do that, they eat shrimp like crazy despite the fact that they have a small mouth, so I can understand why people might think that would work, but it definitely doesn’t. I know enough people who learnt their lesson hard with that one! I also wouldn’t do mollies either. I have a similar set up with similar fish, but that’s black Water & the shrimp have not been breeding in that one, but I’m sort of glad the hatchet rasbora are pretty boisterous and I also think the glowlights are in there might have a go at any mini shrimp because they are a little bit bigger then the rest of the small fish I have in either of the tanks with shrimp in.

In your vids I see that you have a ton of duckweed. If you aren’t able to keep your goldfish then you should consider getting some Mbuna cichlids from lake Malawi. Some of the smaller species can go in a 40 gal and they are primarily herbivores.
@laurencefreeman462 жыл бұрын
They’re also good at eating snails once you drop em in. Also it has recently been discovered that there are shell dwelling mbuna cichlids in Lake Malawi. Discovered in October. They could go in a 20 gal pretty easily.
