You are a brilliantly undervalued teacher and youtube channel. I think the advice you give is perfect. I have some experience with network equipment but youre absolutely right its best just to google around and buy and try kit. If you screw one up, factory reset and try again!

14:15 I believe that is for plugging in your ESD wrist strap when you are handling the modules.

I don’t like HPE/Aruba switches but they are budgeting switches. Cisco for enterprise and UniFi for small businesses.

Hi Jeremy, if you have time take a look at this one for 360USD, MikroTik CRS328-24P-4S+RM, for a home lab I think is the best out there considering the price of course .

very well said about the switches locking up. i got netgear and unifi switches at work, and they would freeze require a manual reboot numerous times. once or twice it's okay but i keep going back and doing it, so the users think i'm not fixing it right and IT dept doesn't know what the frig they doing. told my boss this what you get for buying cheap crap, so everything falls on you anyway. now all of our major sites like HQs is on cisco meraki which runs off cisco ucs and very solid. no stress on anyone and i pay gladly, users are happy and my boss gets to sham these days.

We had cisco switches failing, but they were way out of any service contract, 10+ years in really dirty environments without any cleaning whatsoever. The old switches often die when you unplug them from power, they won't come up again

wouldn't the new catalyst 9300 replace the chassis switch? it has redundant power supplies and redundant fans
