I'm pretty sure Disco Inferno has been seen on more television sets in the 90s and early 2000s than Omega ever will be seen on. Just because Disco was in the midcard doesn't mean he wasn't over. Just watch the crowd when he enters during the Nitro years. To be remembered by fans (including those who no longer watch wrestling) after 25 or so years is quite an accomplishment.

Why can't Dave just admit, that the majority of wrestling fans don't like the same kind of wrestling as he does... why is that so hard to admit? There is a small portion of the public that enjoys the high spot choreographed fake looking wrestling, but most people like great characters and amazing story lines... it's not a bad thing. That doesn't make anyone right or wrong, it's just the truth. And the ratings back that up.

People with autism struggle with nuance as well. They can’t see subtlety. Dave sees everything as A versus B. He defines the terms of the argument and then puts people into the box he wants. What Joe is saying about Kevin Owen at 12:50 is on point. I compare Owens and Zayn in the WWE to Danielson and Ibushi in AEW. Slowing down, taking fewer bumps versus the high-octane style with more transition highspots AEW seems to really enjoy the use of staple guns, glass, or head/neck bumps. I love his gimmick the 70s, Saturday night Fever, Disco, the dance, and his wrestling style all of it was cater to the mature crowd who was born in the 70s era since WCW was huge in the late 90s when NWO took over the ring and chanpionship. If you were to close your eyes, the sound of wrestlers stomping the mat while throwing punches is a more natural sound that blends in to the sounds of the rest of a match, which is mostly wrestlers taking bumps into the canvas... It doesn't take me out of the match as much as the sound of thigh slapping does...

Disco was over as a low midcard heel. You could Stick the cruiserweight or TV title on him. Problem was WCW had so many guys who could feel that role. Only a few guys broke out of that role and none of them really did it in WCW.

I don't agree w/ a lot of stuff disco says, but i watched back in the day, and its true he was over. Clearly not a main star but he had a consistent role on nitro and consistently got reactions w/ his schtick. I'm no expert on in-ring stuff, but he was pretty solid there too, imho.

I have been a wrestling fan since the early 70s. Meltzer has no more knowledge of pro wrestling than many long time fans. Its just we wanted to enjoy the shows instead of leeching off of the wrestlers' hard work like Meltzer does.

I’ve never understood how a thigh slap is supposed to sound like a fucking boot hitting a face? Only way it’d make sense is if it’s a bare foot kicking a face or bare skin elsewhere on the body. Just makes zero sense.

Funny how the ex wrestlers and the ones that spent time in the business point out the flaws within AEW and they get called irrelevant while guys like Dave who’s never been in the business praise AEW endlessly while AEW draws no fans.

i used to not care about wrestlers getting dropped on their necks or bleeding but now i don’t want to see that crap. Bleeding okay, maybe once or twice a year fine but it does take me out of the moment a bit. i start thinking about blood infections or hepatitis and the wrestlers health etc. instead of focusing on the match. aew over does bleeding way too much and i definitely don’t want to see women bleeding.

People are allowed to like what they like but anyone who comes out and says disco was never over either didn’t watch wcw even some tna or have no idea what getting over means. I obviously have no dog in this fight so completely unbiased not only did disco get over he got over in a time up against a star studded roster and was able to make a name himself
