A wonderful night at AAMI Park that I will never, ever forget. Sadly the APL has taken away from me the chance of reliving this by moving the location of the Grand Final without consultation of the fans.

Try writing to your local state MP and you can bid on it next time around. Not the APLs fault the VicGovernment doesn't want to front up the cash.

@@Will-yr3zt Aside from the ludicrous notion that the grand final had to be auctioned off, the fact is that there wasn't a bidding process at all.

@@JediMimic It isn't a ludicrous notion at all... the other major codes do it, as do many other sports in other countries. It's quite normal really... and no there wasn't a bidding process as it was a NSW Government initiative. No reason any other state couldn't have done that... but they didn't...

Other codes do a lot of things, it doesn't mean the A-League has no choice but to do it. The game is brought into disrepute and one of its most valuable points of difference (trophies can be won at home) is dead. Not to mention, and this is the most important part, there was no fan consultation whatsoever in a decision that fundamentally altered the product the fans are expected to continue consuming. If you simply uncritically support whatever is put on your plate, you're not acting in your own slef interest as a consumer and you will enable further exploitation and disregard from corporate decision making down the line. Which is why it's important that many of the actives revolted and some continue to do so - including the YEC who succeeded MCT as City's main active.

@@JediMimic The Aleague isn't doing it because other codes are doing it - they're doing it because it's a strong source of revenue that could be an ongoing stream. Agree that fan consultation is important and fully support all supporter group boycotts when the APL are dragging their feet on agreed upon action.
