Thanks I Love Diesels and have had them all my life. But, would not buy one today as a personal truck. I will go with gas and not tow heavy or just use as a tow behind. Reasons IMHO: 1. Have handled a small fleet of Rams, Duramax and PStrokes with each running 100k plus in miles per year. The number one issue we have with the trucks, Semis and equipment is the DEF systems. Absolutely hate them. The ones who designed, pushed and voted on this crap, should be made to repair themselves and pay for the repair. 2. The 20-30% fuel savings is lost in the fuel price. For us it avg between .50 to 1.25 Per Gall difference. Have seen it at 1.50. 3. HP Fuel Systems can be a huge issue. Seen it happen. So as much as I love the 2500 & 3500 diesels (have had many of them), not planning to buy any more unless things change drastically. THE JUICE IS NOT WORTH THE QUEEZE!!!! Again IMHO and this is for me and my family. Just giving food for thought.

Speaking as an old ex mechanic that did this kind of work, most folks now don't want to get their hands dirty and the time it takes to learn a skill. Most would rather make youtube videos and make easier money by not working for a living. I can't blame them for doing that.

Love your advice to start where you are! Our first trailer cost $200 at a yard sale in 2004.. It was a 1988 Kit Companion. The floor was rotten and I spent six months renovating it while the baby slept and my hubby was at work. We put about $2k into it and used it for years, pulling with a 1984 Suburban my hubby found for $1800. Fast forward 20 years... we've raised three kids and been through a few trailers, includi g a few lean years returning to the brave new world of car camping. Currently in the empty nester "couples trailer" stage and towing with our 2012 Tundra. It feels luxurious compared to our first setup! Thanks for all your inspo along the way.

Just found your channel. I've got 135,000 on my 2017 F350 DRW diesel. Still has the original shocks, brakes and rear pads. Just spent $4k to fix the 4x4 since the interior switch wasn't engaging the front hubs. It's my daily driver. 86 miles a day. Love it and it still looks and drives like new.

On our second Superduty…great truck. I upgraded from 2018 250 to 2022 350 DRW to upgrade campers so we could do a big toy hauler. We actually downsized from toy hauler back to small fifth wheel recently. We could downsize back to f250, but we would likely take a beating on that deal, so we are sticking with the F350. I agree that the F250 is much more nimble than the F350 dually. Also glad there was no damage to the differential…when I saw the chocolate milk my first thought was that’s not good. It’s good that they checked! I also echo the comments on the young mechanic. It’s refreshing to see talented young people going into these very much needed fields. It requires much knowledge and skill to work on vehicles.

Mark, I recommend a S&S Diesel replacement fuel pump or at least a disaster prevention kit! If that Bosh CP4 grenades it’s like a 11k fix. Love the mustache and truck looks awesome! Safe travels, go summer 2024!!!

My husbands f350 super duty diesel finally came after a 2 year wait too. First trip pulling our 5th wheel, 2000 miles on the truck, we lost our transmission. Finally got it back after a month. Fingers crossed that we won’t have any other problems. I kinda wish we still had our f250.

You definitely have one of the gem SuperDutys. The pre 2020 trucks with the 6 speed are really solid. Ford is having a very hard time with a ton of quality issues, so you absolutely made the right choice. Im not going to lie, though.The 2024 Platnium with the Carmel interior is absolutely gorgeous.

I prefer the 6 speed also. It's essentially the same as the 5r110 that was designed for and introduced with the 6.0 powerstroke in '03. IMHO a great platform overall, with correct maintenance and updates for the engine of course.

I have a 2022 F350 Tremor and I have to admit I really love this truck. A guy asked me "what do you pull with that?" I told him, "whatever I want." Love the super duty.

There is a youtuber who had a ford f350 tremor but because of the tremor package, it's not on par to tow their Alliance 5th wheel so they run to the Ram dealership and got a Ram cummins to be able to pull their heavy 5th wheel legally and safely.

It's good to see people that enjoy their jobs. That is an amazing shop. The feathering on tires on both the inside and outside are from lack of rotation, you need to rotate at leat every 6000 miles. Great video looking forward to this season.

I am on my second f450 and I love the wider stance on the front axle. Definitely handles great on the highway. What I do hate about my superduty is hole in the roof, aka sunroof. I hate all the dumb telescoping steering column, brake pedals, heated everything that will fail in 5-8 years. All this extra goofy electronic computerized garbage on these new trucks. I like electric windows and the bigger screen radio. The bigger brakes are a great plus for towing

Thanks for the commentary on why you passed on the 2024. I totally agree with your logic. I drive a 2000 F250 Crew Cab 4x4 with only 90k on it and using your logic, my net cost of ownership is zero as I can still sell it for what I paid for it with 60k miles 10 years ago. I replaced all of the ball joints and major suspension components about 5k miles ago and the truck handles wonderfully. The only downside for the truck is that it's a V10 which doesn't get good gas mileage. But it's been very reliable.

His logic regarding what a truck costs. Purchase price vs sell price down the road is incredibly misleading. First. The new truck at 105 k plus taxes etc will require a very high payment for most folks. With today's high interest rates the payment is even higher than it would be in 2019. I suspect the very high payment on the new 2024 truck exceeded his budget.

Always enjoy your videos and info you provide, for the DIYers like myself, I think its important to note, to always make sure you can unscrew the refill bolt on a diff cover first, because if you take the cover off, drain the oil out and can’t get that bolt loose, you will scrambling to get a new cover, which may or may not be readily available, and since you can’t put oil in the diff you can’t drive the truck.

I changed my diffs, transfer case, transmission fluid, and coolant every 30,000 miles on my Nissan Xterra I bought new in 2007. It is now at 280,000 miles and the only driveline item I've changed is replaced the starter at 240,000. On my second set of Bilstein 4600 shocks. I turn all my own wrenches. Very little towing but a LOT of off roading in San Juan (Rocky) mountains.

Very nicely done. You give just enough details but I have to tell you, I love listening to professionals talk, That young man helping you is spot on and a true professional. Not only does he know how to install, he easily explains how the components work and what the effect if when the parts wear out. He is very impressive. I want that shop to work on my truck. I had our local shop change all my fluids but they stripped two bolt holes that showed signs of galling on the bolt. I am confident from all the air guns I heard within that shop, the mechanic used and air gun to try to take out the pan bolts on my transmission. The mechanics working on your truck show signs of true professionals. PS, I want to add a dual stabilizer to my 2004 F350 since I hope to get another 100,000 miles to the already 230,000 miles. The truck runs great and we just had the entire front end changed out. Great episode.

My favorite investment in all our vehicles is a programmer to keep the trans shifts short and tight. Can adjust the downshift so the motor actually works efficiently. 550k on our 2017 Allison trans.

Blackstone is a great company, and the info they provide is great for long term maintenance of vehicles. Toyota says oil change every 5k miles, I do 10k and Blackstone says I could do even more (2020 4Runner with 112000 miles). Also went from oem shocks to Bilstein, and the difference was incredible.

I'm a retired semi-driver and the thing about changing all the batteries at the same time is bad advice. I bought a new Vovo in 82 and I bought a 35.00 load tester from Harbor Freight I replaced the batteries based on how they did on the tester, the truck had three batteries and I replaced two of them various times but one of them was still in the truck when I sold it with four hundred and ninety-five thousand miles.

Incase you weren't aware Mark, I replaced my steering dampener with the same Bilstein kit as yours, I have a 2019 SRW Lariat Ultimate. I was notified of the recall to replace that piece of plastic they passed as a dampener and when I brought my receipts to Ford for having replaced mine myself, they reimbursed me the entire amount. Just another thought you may want to share. Oh, if you have the mobile service come out to replace your rear camera, make sure they don't use metal tools on your paint. Great video, thanks.

I drive a 2015 F250 Platinum. Love the hell outta of it. We have a 33' pull behind. We had the death wobble, too. I swapped the stock Rancho RS5000X shocks with the Rancho RS9000XL and the wobble is gone. Anyone dealing with this issue, swapping out shocks for might be the easiest, most cost effective route. Fixed the problem for under $500 and about 2 hours of work.

I've had five Super Dutys (someone check my grammar here). 1: a 2000 F350, srw with a 7.3 diesel. 2: a 2006 F350 drw, with a 6.0...not a good engine, but a fantastic truck. 3: a 2012 F350 drw, with a 6.7...excellent truck, excellent engine, until 100k miles. Then 4: while getting the 2012 repaired, I saw a black 2015 F350 drw that had had a minor wreck...never do that in 2019, while hauling our four horses, we were rear ended on the freeway. Minor horse injuries, but the trailer was totaled...truck frame was bent. So, 5: a 2019 F450 xlt...I love this truck.

I need to comment on oil changes. Oil filters have a limit to quantity of particles it can handle until they are completely clogged. After the filter is clogged, they have a built in bypass. Which means it will no longer filter the oil. I will say (with certainty) no filter lasts as long as a manufacturer states. Also, keep in mind, recommended oil changes are suggested by the people that would love to sell you a new vehicle.

I think it is more critical that you have your truck in the tip top shape for all your travels. Taking it to Summit seems like your best option. They know your Ford F-250 and they know what works best. I tend to not trust mechanics so I have gone back to another repair shop where I know I can trust them.

See where that vent hose runs to. If it goes into the wheel well area , move it to the inboard frame area out of water.

Great video and great wisdom on the true cost of truck ownership. I have a 2023 F250 Tremor with the 7.3 and love it. The DEF use on the 23 and newer powerstrokes is apparently much greater than previous years. When you do decide to upgrade I would take a hard look at the 7.3. I pull an 11k lb 38ft travel trailer and have been very impressed. Getting 8-9mpg towing makes the diesel really hard to justify when most are only getting around 11 towing similar weights. The 7.3 with 4.30 gears pulls exceptionally well.

Great video Marc. My 2013 F350 with 78k is overdue shocks and front end inspection. This is a good time to mention to make sure that the front axle half shafts are getting greased when serviced. These seem to get overlooked often creating an easily avoidable significant expense. Looking forward to a possible CP4 to DCR pump conversion episode. Safe travels!

Fabulous, honest, knowledgeable mechanics! Loved the education in this video for me, a woman who generally travels alone. I just had issues on the road recently (rear diff/transaxle) and relied on mechanics to check and then tell me I was safe to drive straight home. (They were right.) Rear end now being rebuilt by my mechanic. But I tuck away these type of names for the future -- you never know when it will be needed. I don't own or drive a truck but this was great info to have should I move that direction. TY!

As a Jeep owner where death wobble is a thing. Dual Stabilizers are a bandaid that masks the death wobble feel less but also hide the problem. The bump is a geometry thing in your suspension.

I was in your exact same boat ordered a new f350 tremor took forever to get built. Have a 2019 f350 king ranch. And decided to just keep it just did pretty much all the same maintenance definitely made it feel like a new driving truck again. Glad I decided to keep like you did.

Yes, I should have mentioned that we both missed our window in selling our trucks to make upgrading a cost effective decision. Mostly due to how long it took Ford to make the '23 which turned into the '24.

Years ago, I had service guys tell me I was wasting money with overkill on service. At every oil change, I changed the fuel filter and alternated changing (trans filter and transfer case oil) (front and rear diffs). But a 1999 Dodge 2500 5.9 cummins that towed approx 75% of it's life with much of that towing a 24' GN horse trailer. Then a 2005 Dodge 3500 dually HO 5.9 cummins towing a 42' living quarters 4 horse trailer all over the NC, TN & VA mountains. No drivetrain issues out of either truck. I traded both running and towing great, the 1999 had 251K miles and the 2005 had 207k miles when I traded.

Mark, another great video about trucks and maintenance. And you are correct, the new truck prices are just out of this world, and then add in the increases in interest rates, then the total price just becomes crazy. With your maintenance schedule and loads your are pulling, your F250 will last a long time, so other than new electronics in the cab, you aren't really gaining anything by purchasing a new truck, esp if you keep the same trim level. As for maintenance, all my vehicles have over 250k on them. Gas and diesel, i change all engine oil at 5k miles, transmissions & transfer cases I do every 25k and axles get done at 100k miles. I even have my kids doing this. It's just easy to remember the numbers 5,10,15 your oil gets done 25,50,75k transmission. Spend a little extra now to make it last. I do all my own work so that helps with the bill also. Im big on preventative maintenance.

Spot on Marc! We bought our 2019 F-150 2.7L XLT (because we tow just a small TT with UWV=4200lb) in January of 2020 and because of soft market and all rebates we paid $46K Canadian for it (after all taxes) with MSRP window sticker of $57,249 Canadian before taxes... (still have a pic of the Ford blue window sticker they have to display on each car here). It was two months before the pandemic and then crazy things kicked into overdrive :). I can sell it now for $39-40K Canadian (based on mileage and equipment package) or just $6K less, crazy! Of course the question is a bit more complex because that 40K is not worth what it was in 2019 but that is a side discussion of a separate topic. That truck got us through two 3 month trips to US with the trailer one all the way to CA so it did great and I would not be looking at a different vehicle precisely for the reason you have stated, and that is the market is just still not even close to being balanced and this is reflected in the pricing and absence of incentives.

The true preventive measure to prevent death wobble is a $30-40 set of caster shims. You need more caster than they come with in stock from. I did that to my 2020 Tremor as soon as I bought it, and zero front end issues so far at 42k miles.

For me the topper and bed slide is a must. As a Chevy guy it is extremely enlightening how much you Ford Dodge and Jeep guys have to do to get your truck to drive normal! 😂 Looking forward to the new season! Safe travels.

I agree and find it interesting that they won’t even consider a GM. There is no death wobble on GM trucks. GM quit udon the CP4 in 2016. Ford doesn’t care and continues using it. I am a retired mechanic and Ford is great if you make money fixing them. You will never see one in my garage.

Gm trucks have their own issues mainly expensive transmission problems with the Allison 10 speeds and shotty fit finish and wiring problems theirs a reason why the government has had to bail them out twice and now maybe a 3rd time.

I love my 22 Ford F350 Tremor. It’s the best truck I’ve owned and I’ve had a lot of different brands. I don’t like the look of the 23-24. I’m definitely going to install the dual stabilizer kit. It’s hard to find a good quality shop, they look top notch.

Great info thanks!! I was a Ford guy for years.. (2) Expeditions (2) F150’s (1) F350 King Ranch 6.4 … I wanted a new Dually to tow our 42’ 5th wheel.. After seeing the 13 month wait on a factory order.. I went with the Chevy Silverado High Country 3500 Dually.. did I say 10. Speed??!!!! Awesome Chevy got me the truck of my dreams in under 3 months!!! (Factory ordered) .. closest dealer that was getting the truck was 50 miles from my home….Bought it in late Dec 23 and she currently has 8600 miles on it now.. My wife and I drove to Florida 2 weeks ago for Spring Training and family time.. what a great driving machine!!! 21.9 mpg down and 16.9 mpg home to Pa. No trailer attached.. lol( ouch 🤕))… our trailer is getting mods and repairs done.. hope to be done by vacation season.. maybe we’ll see you on the road sometime… love your channel and Changing Lanes as well. On the stabilizers bumping: There was a change to the engine crossmember for 2019, so kits made for 2017-2018 models would bump it. I had that situation and it bumped BAD until we figured out that they ordered the wrong part and there was a kit designed for the 2019. Got the shop to take the hit and install me the right one at no extra cost, they are the professionals and should know what parts to order.

All the points about a 2024 are very valid I’ve heard from KZbin and reading forums that the 6 speed (6r140) is a an excellent transmission and more reliable than the 10 speed (10r140)

I love my 2023 6.7L Powerstroke F250!! I dont tow an RV, but I tow heavy machinery and trailers very often! Towing what we do with a F150 was a scary experience not being able to stop as quickly lol! Diesel all the way, but not for everyone!

Great Video! We have a 2017 version of the same truck you have, even down to the color. I've had it at the dealership 2 times for the death wobble and each time they just replace the crappy Rancho steering stabilizer. The is a diesel shop near my house that does suspension and I'm going to take it there to get checked out. I've been looking at the same steering stabilizer that you just put on and will get that done in addition to replacing any worn out components. We only have 52K miles on it, but the bulk of that is towing 5th wheel RV's.

After selling our 2017 f250 platinum and 2019 Jayco Northpoint 377 about a year ago, we are wanting to get back to a 5th wheel. I just purchased a 2022 Ram 2500 Laramie 6.7 Cummins with 40k miles. I have no complaints yet. I’ve always owned ford but changed this time….😮

I ordered and took delivery of my 23 F350 last year. I did a lot of research in picking my dealer and got my truck for 10k under MSRP. I do my own oil changes, rotella T6 and I bulk buy it when it’s on sale and I can do an oil change for $100. Really great video. Thanks

I have about 600,000 miles of seat time in Super Duty pickups. Great job keeping your white one going 👍. I usually would do a transmission service once a year when driving a lot. Or 40-50k miles equivalent. Always served me well doing that.

OK! I'm glad your keeping the truck, there's no need to replace it you'll get over 300,000 thousand out of it easy! I had a supposedly well know service shop change the oil in my differential ! Well that turned out to be a disaster! I then needed to change the brakes, as it is a dully I needed to pull the axle . As a precaution I pulled the plug out of the differential and when I did there was something that shocked me... there was metal shavings all over it! Knowing that I just had that oil changed that pissed me off! I fixed my brakes and put it back together. I took it to ford because I wanted someone else to be my witness . Then I payed them to change the oil In the differential , they did and told me that no one had ever changed that oil! You being in the shop while they were working on your truck is a lucky thing!
