I would have to suggest the southwest corner of South Dakota. You can go to any one of many rv parks near rapid city. And from there you are within 90minutes of devils tower, spearfish canyons, deadwood, Sturgis, needles highway, iron mountain pass, Mount Rushmore, crazy horse monument, badlands national park, and Custer state park. If the weather isn’t cooperating you can still drive these areas without the hiking. But hiking in the black hills is unreal. And as a bonus you don’t need to move the rv the whole week. So much more fun at night not having to worry about moving the following day. No matter where you decide to go enjoy it. Good luck and God’s speed.

A life long Michigander here. Michigan actually has two National Lakeshore Parks. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore AND a island 6 hours out in Lake Superior, called Isle Royale which is a National Park. Michigan’s only National park! Just to clarify! Isle Royale is a 100 miles Long Island with hiking for end to end. Full of moose and wolves. Both protected there. Well worth the trip!

🤣 we rented a minivan a few years back and did a 6,000 mile loop of the country with 4 kids in 14 days. It was epic, crazy, exhausting, and memorable. AZ, East to the U.P., then west to Rushmore than south. Ghost towns, random camping, and getting lost. It was awesome! Thanks for the 7 great places :)

When I was a kid back in the 70's, my parents would start planning the family trip in spring. Each one of us 3 kids would be given a special place we were going to visit, and we were to research what we would do when we got there. We took the same trip you are on right now, and it was one of the most memorable times of my life. I got yellowstone and the tetons on that trip. Have fun, and stay safe.

One of the best photos I have of my Mom is her sitting on a rock looking over the Painted Desert at just the right time of day...so I cannot emphasize enough how important *what time of day you arrive* is! Sun angle and shading from the land are *critical* for Western monument viewing while time of year is more critical to traveling the PCH. If you arrive at the Grand Canyon or Painted Desert at noon, well, it's a big ditch pr a wide area full of rocks. Big whoopee ding dong. Flowering fields make the coast route unforgettably gorgeous with the yellow flowers covering the hillsides, and even more spectacular that just the cliffs and water while the PCH in high dry summer is impressive on the water side but rather meh otherwise.

We were just at Yellowstone and Grand Teton 6/23 - 6/24. We packed in an awesome trip in 7 days. Left Dallas and flew to Omaha NE for 2 days then rode the Amtrak California Zephyr to Salt Lake city and rented a campervan to drive up to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. We camped in the van 4 nights. We never stayed in one campground more than one night. Turned the awesome campervan back in at Salt Lake city then flew back to Dallas. We fit it in a Saturday to Saturday week. The best vacation so far! Love your videos! It gives us inspiration! Keep it up!

Thank you for reminding us how lucky we are to live in this beautiful country from sea to shining sea! Trish, I know you have received several requests for recipes or even a cookbook creation. You have a relaxed attitude toward feeding your family that comes across as being relatively healthy. Example, the way you were nonchalantly setting the picnic table for you and Mark. Your meal selection looked fantastic for a picnic. Heck, it’s not like the family grocery store is located around the next tree! PS: Everyone needs to add a Blackstone Griddle to their inventory. This is the best method for fast and easy cooking!

The tip for goin with the flow as far as planning is a great tip. I love the upper michigan and traverse city too. One thing i did was hubby n i went to tampa to the rv shiw. One the way back i took hwy 19 which goes along the gulf to get back to georgia. I would pull off at places along the way cause we werent in a Hurry. Last place i stopped at was cedar key florida. Omg! So cute. We found this one cottage type place. We had no reservations mind you. We got a heck if a deal since it was off season. Winded up staying there for 3 days! So peaceful. Stars everywhere. Found the best restarant called Tony’s. They make the best clam chowder! Lol. And i was born and raised in the east coast. My point is sometimes the best vacations is spontaneity. 👍❤️

Thanks for the video. We rented an RV last year. From CT. Went south to Myrtle Beach and up through West Virginia and PA. We got what you call “RV Bug”. We bought an RV and this year we are doing 3 weeks. San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Devils Tower, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse all in 3 weeks from CT. So we’ll get a little taste of everything. We’ll let you know how it goes! We’ll do Michigan Next year.

Michigan (and the UP) does have a National Park - Isle Royale (in Lake Superior). One of the least visited in the US, but beautiful and great for hiking, fishing, and moose viewing. It's closer to Minnesota, but you can take a boat/plane from either MN or MI. Highly recommend it!

I was in Yellowstone 2 yrs ago and spent 5 days there and was busy all 5 days. I have been to a lot of the places you have been, and I enjoy your videos as they refresh my memories of being there. So glad you still enjoying traveling and have had your kids with you. You are creating memories for all.

I know this is 4 years old, but I just wanted to say that we have a camper van and we use it like a backpacking van. We drive to see places during the day and then we stop for the night in a new place and move on the next day.

A few years ago for my brother's high school graduation, my family and I flew into Vegas (we're from Virginia) and drove up around LA up the coast, stayed in Saint Luis Obispo, all the way up to big sur, we saw the redwoods, San Francisco, went all through oregon and Washington, briefly in Idaho, up to BC and Alberta, to Banff, back down to Seattle to fly back. 21 days 😊

Love that Michigan was included - Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore & isle Royale National Park - are both national treasures but Isle Royale is tough to include unless you have more time to spend. Thanks so much for the service you are providing - it really does show the world from a beautiful viewpoint.

I can't tell you how happy I am you made this video! We are weekend warriors, and unable to travel at the leisurely pace a lot of full timers usually do (the rule of 3's, etc) to take our big trips away from home with our RV. When you can't full time, there's a lot you have to fit into a small timeline so your family can collect those monumental memories together. Our busy lifestyles are cemented in our area, the most we can plan an RV trip for would be 10 days right now. And with the current situation around the world, RV travel is definitely a wonderful way to still make those family memories and stay safe. WONDERFUL VIDEO!!🙌

When it comes to national parks, I would recommend getting in as early as possible by 6:30 or 7. You will beat the crowds at the gate and be able to reach those places that get crowded quickly without any difficulty!

So, we're from Fremantle, WA and did the following in 17 days (in 2014): Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Arches, Canyon Lands, Capitol Reef, Arches, Monument Valley, Grande Escalande Staircase, Bryce Canyon, Zion. This included staying in Bryce for 4 days with the resident geoligical range who we knew from Notre Dame uni in Freo! Would have loved to have stayed longer and can't wait to get back!

We just did a month long trip to Yellowstone and Glacier. Speaking of things not going right. First night out the bedframe collapsed, second night the shower drain broke, and two days later had a flat tire on the truck. Despite getting off to a rocky start, we still had a great trip.

Summer's 18 & 19 we traveled from Sw Mo to Yellowstone where we did Dinosaur Np, Flaming gorge Ut, Teton's, Yellowstone, Cody Wy, Devils Tower, Mt Rushmore, Badlands in 12 days. Summer 19 we left Sw MO for Yosemite. OKC bombing memorial, Austin TX dinner Big Texan, Cadillac ranch, Painted Desert, Petrified forest, Petroglyph Np, Walnut Canyon, Sun set valcano, Grandcanyon, Hollywood, Channel Islands, Giant sequoias, Yosemite, Pink corral sand dunes, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capital Reef, Arches, Canyon Lands, 4 Corners, Great Sand Dunes Np, then home. 16 days both trips totaled 22 people and 4 -5 campers, lots of great memories.

Thanks for taking your time to make recommendations to those of that are unable to take extended time off. One thing that has me scratching my head is why you guys didn’t go with another f450 this time around. The turning radius makes it more tolerable to drive unhitched.

Shoutout to Kentucky State Parks! We did a lot of long-weekend trips when we were working. I kept a map with a 300 mile radius circle with the center on our home in Michigan. As you have said Michigan has great state parks and beach towns. Kentucky has hills, rock climbing, rafting and caves! Carter Caves and Cumberland Falls are two favorites.

So true about 7 mile bridge. On our 6 month fulltime life, that’s one of my greatest memories and I couldn’t figure out why, but it’s exactly as you said “somewhere that makes you feel like you are somewhere else”. Also it was cool for us as we love the movie ‘True Lies’ 🤣🤣

OMG Guys!!! Great Video!! You are totally correct you can do a lot in 10 days. My parents had 4 - 6 weeks vacation each year. We were always gone from early June to mid July. My Mom spent months planning our trips and packing in as much stuff as she possibly could stuff into those trips. My dad, well he was the driver. Sometimes he drove 10 plus hours to get us to the next destination. In fact, I remember one trip when we rolled into Vegas at midnight. Set up the camper, went to bed, got up, had breakfast and we were out the door doing by 9:00am to get in whatever Mom had planned. Anyway, all 5 of us kids loved every bit of it!! Yes, we were a family of 7 in a 26 ft travel trailer. (We started out in a 22ft travel trailer). Sometime my grandparents would join us. Then we were 9 people in the same 26 ft rig. Dad extended the upper bunk to accommodate 4 kids vs 2 kids to fit all 9 of us into the rig. Although we were gone for a longer period of time it blows my mind how much we were able to do and see in that time frame. Same thing happened on our spring break trips. Mom packed the week beyond full and Dad drove to make it happen. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Sorry, went down memory lane. Anyway really love all of your suggestions. I can hardly wait to start traveling again. We are 1 - 2 years from full time RVing. As always, thanks for the great information, amazing video, and safe travels.

Love your videos! Last summer we rented an RV from the east coast for three weeks. 7,000.5 miles later, we returned with memories to last a lifetime. Needed to plan better for the fuel consumption, but would get in another RV and do the trip again tomorrow! We went west on I90 almost all the way. Came home east from four corners. Just amazing! Yellowstone, Zion, Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon north and South rim, amazing. Couldn’t agree more with your recommendations!
