Here, hold my beer I do not need a stinking check list, as I drive off forgetting to retract the stabilizers or tongue jack all the way and bend the crap out of them. :) I've driven off and left my door mat, driven right over my chocks and left them behind. Left the camper door keys or cell phone on the rear bumper on the truck. But I'm a newbee and have only been camping for 50 plus years. :)

X-chock wheel stabilizer is meant to be used after the tires on your RV have cooled off. They will contract when parked and expand when driving. Wait a bit after arrival and then install the x-choke. Or if you have to install the x-choke right away, make sure to get back to it after a certain period of time and double check and expand the x-choke.

On one Florida vaca all went great, then on the way back home....i was towing my new camper with SUV and my Sindy was following in the truck towing my brand new boat. At a stop to put air in SUV tires, Sindy was spooked by another driver as she was coming round the back of my camper and hit the new camper with the brand new boat. She was terrified, and then cried because I didn't yell or be mean. She said her ex husband would have and been mean. I explained it had already happened and couldn't be undone, and it was insured, why would I make it worse by damaging her. It's not what happens as much as how we handle it. People are more important than things.

We're Canadian RV newbies! We're going to be stationary for the next 8-12 mths, but then we hope to park our destination RV at a different location each year...well, each spring/summer/fall camping season. I'm learning a lot and I can't get enough ❤ The saying you're looking for is... "It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it." I'll do my best avoid "poopsies" 😂

The ending of this video was phenomenal. We have four kids. Fifteen all the way down to twins that are five. My wife and I have been trying to decide if purchasing a camper is a wise decision. I've watched several of your videos trying to learn what to have, what to do, and what to expect. This was an epic culmination of the wonderful memories your family has created. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experiences.

Another tip if you are not full timing is to stock the kitchen, linens, and bathroom stuff with stuff dedicated to the camper. It can be cheap or used stuff, but having to pull stuff from your house every trip and back to the house after every trip is really annoying, and you will forget stuff!! Another thing is I've found the portable surge/EMS more useful. If you pull into a campsite and hookup and have a permanently installed surge, and the power pole is bad, then you have to move the trailer to try another site. If you have a portable, you can just walk over to another empty site and test before moving the trailer. (It has taken me four tries once to find a good power pole).

Will add a “nice to have” tool. 3 foot breaker bar, extension and socket for removing trailer tire lugs. Not sure about others but my lugs have a 140 to 150 pound torque specification. A breaker bar makes it vastly easier to remove the lugs as opposed to the car wrench shown here. Totally worth the investment the first time you need it.

Hi Mark and Trish. This video is absolutely spot on. I agree entirely that you should just start with the essentials. Otherwise you just end up focusing on ‘what you think you need’ and not the experience. As an aside, you inspired us to buy an RV after being in a tent trailer for a few years. Looking back, we were anxious about taking the leap and kept waiting for the ‘perfect’ setup. But thanks to your videos, we took that step and have now spent several summers in our RV. Thank you.

The levelmate is great and the need to see green is real. The problem we’ve had is the buffering between turning it on it actually reading or freezing up while trying to level. 😕

I would add keep your road days as short as possible, we rarely do over 300 miles a day. It's a lot more enjoyable to leave early and stop early. Why rush. Also pack a toolbox, rvs break constantly, but are simple to repair.

The ending montage brought tears to my eyes. I found your channel almost at your first travel day and remember your excitement when you hit 1000 subs. Like many other viewers feel, it's been amazing watching your family grow and adventure. I think the episode that touched me most deeply was watching Tori and Trish set up Tori's college dorm room, and then Trish crying as she and Marc drove away later that night. I never married or raised children, but still can totally understand how incredibly hard it must bee for a mom (and a dad) to watch their first hatching fly from the nest. Great video, as always.

Part of the experience is learning, sometimes the hard way. I think everyone has had an experience such as yours. That is how we learn and try to pre- empt any issues we have already experienced. Making sure the black tank valve is closed, checking your tire pressures before leaving on a trip. Monitoring the sides of your camper when travelling for shrapnel comming off your tires, checking for raccoons in your wheel wells. Great tips! Its always nice to watch these types of videos so that I can be aware of things I wouldn't normally think about.

I've been trying to find a clear cap for my end sewer piece. That way you can see if there is stuff there and prepare yourself. If you don't have a pull out sprayer for your kitchen faucet, you can use a Pur or any faucet filter. They work great! My max tire pressure is 50. I bought those tire minders for 50 pounds for $8 and can see at a glance what my tire pressures are.

I think the overwhelming desire is to be as prepared as you can be so when "it" happens you are prepared. But, of course, that simply isn't possible. Thanks for the flashback footage...as someone with a beginning channel I get all emotional watching my 10 year old grandson grow up just over the past year...it will be even more so in the years to come as we watch him grow as you watched yours. Thank you again for all the video help... and for helping us prepare for our full time journey...I don't think you could ever know how much positive effects you have sent out into the world. You open new worlds for people. What an amazing legacy.

I was so excited to install that valtera cap and since this was the first time ever I was opening up that black tank valve, I really taught a little drip but seems the RV, who arrived from the dealership before winter and we were now in spring, had been emptied, well, it was not. Valve was pushed in but a lot came out, on me! Oh Boy, not a happy camper! I was shocked and surprised but I moved on, cleaned up as best as I could and installed everything. I will never take that off again! Good thing we are stationary.

Very nice video. Been RVing for years, and we just came back from a weekend trip. BUT, the beat part of your video is seeing the smile on your very proud face walking your young Marine down the isle. Brought tears to my eyes. My son Cole never got to walk down that isle. Unfortunately, I got the call no parent ever wants. He was killed coming home for Marine Training when a careless driver tried to beat a signal light. Anyhow, I felt the feeling that I never had just seeing it in your eyes. Camping brings back many memories we shared in the past. Thank You.

Excellent information. Obviously you can't possibly cover every little detail. Otherwise this episode would never end..... my added two cents... The travel day departure check list and a windstorm check list. A windstorm check list includes all loose equipment on the ground. Chairs, folding aluminum tables, a portable satellite dish, grills, games, etc make dangerous and damaging projectiles. I've had my roof mounted dish come lose, causing a leak, during a thunderstorm. I now know to turn her off when a storm is approaching or forecasted. While many awnings have wind sensors, they can't see a 60mph gust ahead of time. If you notice wind, check the forecast and bring the awnings in if necessary. A cheap water filter is good insurance against sediment clogging things up and eroding seals. I personally would add a filter to a start kit. Cheers!

Your entire family has been so inspirational to so many people. Maybe when your kids are older they will realize just how awesome their parents were and how not every kid gets to have a lifetime of memories traveling with their parents. It is a gift and those of us whose parents have passed on we know just how special that gift is.

RUBBER WHEEL CHALKS: agree with Mark about rubber is much better than plastic. My husband did an “RV MacGyver” adaption to our rubber chalks. He drilled and placed an eyelet in the back of all 4 rubber chalks. Then he tied a rope to 2 pairs so chalks, making the rope longer than the distance between the front and back set of tires. This makes the carrying and storage of the chalks much easier. Not as much stooping, not handling muddy chalks and easier to carry. (Good for seniors) Some styles come this way or you can adapt yourself. Try it.

great vid.... one can go slow and get it right the first time, or speed thru it and make a mistake or two that will require more of the time that you didnt know that you had, to repair or do it over.... slow and steady is always better.... BUT..... when you are going slow, learn a routine, which will then naturally speed up the process. the goal is to make no mistakes while LEARNING how to be quick about it..... when one is slow and they have others waiting on them, is not good for anyone, so find the patience to learn how to keep up with other RV'ers. If you care to learn and have the ability, it will happen.... the accessory "add-on" dump valve is a great safety against leakage from the tank valves, and can be even more functional than some realize.... when camping, the worst "normal" thing that can happen is having the black tank fill up at night... the accessory dump wont solve this, but what it can do is allow the main black tank valve to be opened a little bit, draining some of the effluent out into the drain line, backing up against the valve that was added to the outlet of the waste plumbing, which then frees up a little space in the tank for at least a couple more uses before dumping it.. it takes the worry out of the inconvenience of finding the black tank full when urgency arises.... the black tank should NOT be dumped every day, but it should be allowed to fill to more than half full before dumping..... why?, because the solids that drop into the tank may not be be carried out with the effluent as its drained away, and as it sets on the bottom of the the tank without enough liquid to float it, it can harden to the bottom of the tank, which is the start of a very annoying problem that may get to be an expensive problem... in modern rv's, one should be able to go a couple weeks without any need or reason to dump the black tank.....

"Windows open and close". When we shared our plans with our financial advisor, he actually encouraged us to do it now for that very reason. My husband was retiring and I going to work a few more years, but our advisor said I recommend you do it now since you can because so many people have these plans and health issues for themselves or their parents close their window of opportunity.

You guys are great. One of my favorite channels. You are absolutely right. I had to reel myself in from buying everything when we first got our camper. You gather enough in the years that you use it. Thanks.

Tire safety is a definite must ... even if only traveling short distances. We have camped with our family since the late 1990's, had a towable since 2000. We decided to go all out and get a new fifth wheel when we became empty nesters. It has been a wonderful change, and a great decision. Three years into owning, we had three tire failures on one trip ( only 2 hours from home ). We bought a new set of tires ( same E rating ), and then also started putting tire covers on when not in use. In a recent trip from NY to Kentucky, all went well. Stopped home in NY for an hour, then continued on another two hours to spend 5 days at our favorite state park. Less than half way there, we had a blowout on the interstate. Did a lot of damage to the side shirting and wheel well trim. Took the trailer into the dealer at the end of October, and we still do not have it back. They just received the final pieces from the manufacturer, but now cannot get the graphics. There paint shop said they feel they can get us taken care of, so crossing our fingers it looks ok. During the down time, I have purchased G rated tires ( along with a heavier set of rims to accommodate the increased PSI ). I'm also going to take your advice on the TPMS. A small price compared to safety, repair bills, and down time. Cannot wait to see your next videos when you hit the road again.

I really loved seeing all the older clips, watching the kids grow has been amazing. Thank you for inspiring others to make the most of our summers with our kids, I wish I would have been in a spot to start sooner. We have been using our RV since 2017 to take our son to see the United States. We are attempting to hit 48 of the states by the time his senior year is here we are at 27 so far and will be hitting 7 more this year! I love being able to show them there is more than just Ohio. Thanks again for sharing your lives with us!

This was a good overview of RV gear and operation, and is one of your best episodes. The deeper dives into specific items or operations will be a nice compliment to this video. This type of video is very helpful to newbies, and those who are on the fence about joining the RV community. The destination videos are the icing on the cake. You are great ambassadors for the RV lifestyle. Keep having fun and Keep Your Daydream.

This was an easy video to watch. Informative, real, down to earth, and, for this new RV 'er, heart warming. There is so much to learn and know about RV camping. It's overwhelming. But, after watching your video, I'm more excited than anything! I just wish i could take you with me. 🤓
