Nobody knows. And if you watch this whole episode by Glitch at the end, you'll hear what Caine said about why Gummigoo disappeared like that. It was unknown if Gummigoo can be either NPCs or a human in a cartoon form. No one knows. That explains the T-posed models in the digital map area that reveal they are NPCs. If Pomni and her gang didn't exist in model map area, that means they are not NPCs. They are humans in immortal digital forms.
