Great video. Would I “need” a subwoofer for a room 5m X 8m X 2.7m. Use for music and movies.
@GramophoneMD Жыл бұрын
Good question Paul - but a tough one to answer. Happiness with the amount and impact of the bottom end varies so much with each person's perception. You might find in a room that size that you are delighted with the bass from these (which is pretty substantial) - someone else might want more. In our view, adding a sub and carefully dialing it in is almost always a plus, as it can make significant improvements to the sound-stage, as well as the bass impact and realism.

This is a very interesting speaker. Without a center channel, how clear is the dialogue thru 2 tweeters? And how is the bass with 2 speakers facing out to the side and 2 speakers facing inward, most likely reflecting off of the TV or cabinets? Thanks.
@GramophoneMD10 ай бұрын
Hi StevieG, yes, LS 60 is fascinating; a complete package without a rack of gear taking up lots of room. The bass is surprisingly good, and having multiple bass generating drivers is a plus. It is not a home theater set-up, so there is no true center channel speaker, but dialog in a movie soundtrack is very clear. We hope you can visit for an audition
@stevieg307810 ай бұрын
Thank you for your quick response. I am looking for a Soundsystem that will predominantly be used for watching movies & series on Amazon & Netflix. I want the voices clear & easy to understand. But when I do listen to music, I want to feel like I'm listening in person. I worry that the LS60s cannot measure up to a surround system @@GramophoneMD

I wonder if they will communicate with KEF's other wireless speakers...?

Hello Ben, yes - as KEF says, "When partnered with other LS Wireless Collection speakers, you can use AirPlay 2, Chromecast or Roon to fill the entire house with the same playlist"

Hello Jay, yes, in our listening, dialog (and midrange in general) sounds very good on the LS 60. Our customers have been very happy with these: skybygramophone.com/collections/kef

Hi do you think it is good set up for usage for home theatre for Netflix?
@GramophoneMD6 ай бұрын
Hi Kopman, we love this product, especially at its price of $4995. It is a fully functional 2 channel system, and in our view, movies sound great with them, esp.if you add a sub for a 2.1 channel system. If your main goal is 5 channel or 7 channel (or more) home theater, you may want to choose a home theater receiver and a multi-speaker package. Please reach out to us to discuss further: ask@gramophone.com. Thanks!

Hi, Any known issues with these electronics / amps/ system? If there is an issue with these speakers amplification, is it an easy fix? Is a preamplifier needed? Thanks.
@GramophoneMD Жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, preamp functions are built into the LS 60's, so none needed. Thus far we have not seen any known service issues, and the amplifiers seem very stable
@gustoaudio87119 ай бұрын
I don’t really understand why there’s no passive version of these in the €2.5-3.5k price range. Maybe because it would sound far too close to the Blade 2 at a fraction of the price.
@GramophoneMD9 ай бұрын
Hello Gusto, thanks for your comment. Part of the answer is that if the speakers were passive, you wouldn't get the quality of bass available from a slim cabinet with the system approach to amps, software, and woofers interacting as these do. The closest product in the KEF passive line-up is something like the R5 Meta @ $3,998 USD: skybygramophone.com/collections/kef/products/kef-r7-meta-floorstanding-speakers-each

Hook these up to a Parasound P6 and you are good to go for any source at a reasonable price. Thanks
@GramophoneMD11 ай бұрын
Thanks Daniel, there are some digital, and a standard analog input, on the back of LS 60 to make it easy to hook up some additional sources, as follows: Inputs: Primary speaker, HDMI eARC, TOSLINK Optical, Digital Coaxial, Analog RCA , USB Type A (service), RJ45 Ethernet (network), RJ45 Ethernet (interspeaker) Secondary speaker: USB Type A (service), RJ45 Ethernet (interspeaker). This is a sweet system and hardly takes up any room

Can we still use the ls60 in a home cinema system where we already have an amplifier and some speakers ?
@GramophoneMD Жыл бұрын
Hi Swall, yes, you can - but you would be getting quite a bit of technology that you would not be using, as you'll have similar technology already in your system. You might look at the R7 Meta, also a slim tower from KEF, which aren't self-amplified and with all the wireless technology that LS 60 has in it
@SwallCloud Жыл бұрын
@@GramophoneMD Thank you. R7 are definitly interesting and i look at them quite a lot since you adviced them. In this particular case, it's in the context of a sound bar environment so i think i can't link the R7 to the soundbar, reason why i though of the ls60 for the music system, independant from the little "home cinema" system base on the soundbart

Can you add 5 of these for a 5.1 system?
@GramophoneMD Жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, while these can pair with each other, you would not have the A/V steering logic that is available in a home theater receiver that sends audio specifically to the center channel, from left to right and front to back, etc. So no true home theater experience without a pre-pro

My heart is saying Yes, however my brain is saying No. I cant help thinking how a compact system like this wont have issues as time passes. What I am thinking is when there is a amp issue it fails, when it has a driver issues it fails, and so on. I truly hope this will be so well manufactured there will be minimum issues in the future. I will consider this in an additional room, but not to replace my current 5 amp system.

Thank you for your comments Laton. In our experience KEF products have been really quite reliable, and they have carefully laid out the electronics in this system as well. KEF has been at this wireless category for some time now, and are experienced with what it takes to do it right

Too bad KEF don't support there expensive products with 3-5 year replaceable drivers and 10 years on the electronics like Buchardt. KEF's past history with customers and product support is very poor. Poor wireless and networking issues and very poorly written apps. Something this expensive should be backed and futureproof guarantee and peace of mind when your paying a lot of money on something like this.

KEF has a 5 year warranty. The drivers don’t have issues, they get vandalized by their wife or kids and then blame kef. I’m sick of it also.
