*PLEASE READ* Hi there, This vlog was filmed in July 2018 and was downloaded from my other channel to share here. Unfortunately it's downloaded in SD and not HD which it should have done. I wanted to share it here as although, my filming, editing and music is not that great, (when i started vlogging!) i wanted to share it with any of you that wants to see what Kefalonia is like. We spent a week on the island and travelled all around by bus and visited many towns and villages. Thanks for watching, my more recent vlogs will be up very soon. Claire x

Hey Claire have you been back since or more recently than 2018? We are heading to Kefalonia in the high season and we would prefer to travel via bus as the expense of a car is insane during that time. Is it easy to get around via bus? Thanks in advance

Hi there sorry about my late reply. No I haven’t but it’s high on my list to go back soon hopefully! The buses run from the main depot in Argostoli and travel all over the island. I printed off all the bus routes we wanted to do with the times from the Ktel Kefalonia bus website beforehand so we could plan our days. We didn’t go south of the island but travelled to many places daily and we found the buses great! The views are stunning and there’s free WiFi onboard too. Places like Asos and Fiskardo in the north had limited buses so we had to be mindful of being early at pick up times. We left Asos around 10 mins early and it was the last bus if the day going back to Argostoli! But other than that, the buses were on time and cheap too. Your best bet is to look at the Ktel website and see what routes are available now and go from there. You could also maybe do day tours through Get Your Guide that might help reaching a few more places. Hope you have a wonderful time x

Hi, planning to go to kefalonia and travel with no car, so good to know more about this bus 🚌 is this the Ktel bus and is it scheduled regularly in summer season? Thanks

Hi there yes Ktel and there’s regular service from Argostoli to all over the island. We went in July 2018 and travelled all over including Fiskardo up north! I printed out all the individual bus journeys of places we wanted to visit and the times and brought them with us and had them in my bag - bus easy enough on your phone too. I think the summer schedule may go up around May time but I could be wrong. I absolutely fell in love with Kefalonia it’s one of the prettiest islands I’ve been too xx

Hi. Going by bus, is it possible to go to Assos and Fiskardo on the same day or would we need to go on separate days? Regarding Assos does the bus go straight there from Argostoli or do we get off at Divarata and get a shuttle bus from there? Also could we go to Sami, Melissani cave and Agia Effemi on the same day? The buses look very limited as to the frequency. Sorry about all the questions. Thanks for any advice. ATB David

You could go to both on the same day but I’d go to Assos first as the buses are more limited going there. It would be best to go on separate days though if possible like what we did as it takes 2hrs each way to go to Fiskardo from Argostoli. Regarding going to Assos, yes when we went we had to switch buses in Divirata (near Myrtos beach) we had to wait around 15mins to go on a mini bus to Assos and the same on the way back too. With Fiskardo it was just one bus all the way. You could definitely do all those 3 places in one day if the buses work out ok - you’d only need an hour at the caves and all 3 places are not far from each other but we did Agia Effemia on a separate day. We did have a problem with catching the bus back from the caves to Sami - it didn’t turn up!! So as there were 5 of us, my husband walked and the rest of us took a taxi for around €10 (this was a few years ago now though). The walk wasn’t far maybe 1.5 miles along the beach but we got a taxi as it was July and hot!! There’s a great large bar and restaurant opposite the cave facing Sami - it was pretty there. I can’t remember the frequency of the buses but I do remember they were limited. We used the buses nearly every day so going to these places are doable. Another option would be to look on GetYourGuide to see if there’s any arranged coach day trips or Viator - I use both frequently and definitely worth looking to see what’s available when you go. I hope this helps x

@@Clairegoeswhere Thanks ever so much for getting back to me Clair. Great advice that I'll take on board. I like the idea of going by bus as it gives more independence than going by tour company. Will check them out though. Cheers!
