Shes clearly singing about her mother but my father has a mental disorder. he is a very hard person to love and forgive. i will love him unconditionally but i do get very frustrated dealing with him for he is very selfish and hard to talk to. ik somewhere deep down he loves me but sometimes its just hard to believe. i love lani because she sings about the truth. shes so real and theres not many songs i can relate to on such a personal level.

The first time I heard this song it made me cry. When I was ten my grandmother passed away from a car accident. My mom wasn't in my life that much throughout my young childhood, I'm 16, so my grandmother was like my mom. She filled that emptiness. She was on her way to pick me up from my friend's house. I got into a stupid argument the night before with her. Everyday I think about her and how the last words to her was I hate you. It tore me apart. But she would want me to move forward and be me so the world can see. This song had brought up those feelings I had that day my dad showed up to my friend's house instead of my grandmother and I am thankful it did. I hope Kehlani gets the Grammy she is nominated for. She deserves it.

This song has really helped me release feelings that was left unsaid. I had to let go the hurt from my mom not wanting to raise me and let go the resentment, anger, and hate I had in my heart and questions that went unanswered. I used to always blame myself, I had to deal with teaching myself everything a mother was supposed to teach her daughter. Growing up and couldn’t relate to friends because they had their moms. But Allah has blessed me to become a mother of three with baby girls and I am determined to give them the love, and being the mother I never had. And to every girl, woman, person out there whose dealing with that abandonment just know it’s not your fault. Your the gift and you will prosper beyond the things you went through.
@daniwri68357 жыл бұрын
Deep. I can say that im very blessed to have a mom. My moms bent over backwards for me and my kids and others. Alot of people wish they had my mom. And my dad wasnt in my life and I'm genuinely ok and at peace with that. He's not someone I want near me my mom or my kids. But to those hurting remember its never your fault why someone chooses not to be there. And when life's hard you wonder why did they even keep me I didn't ask to be here...but I mean wow look shes here for a reason. I hope everyone can make peace with whatever pain is there from a parent. And in the future give your children what you would have wanted from the good things you can control in their lives.

The lyrics give off the feeling I’ve been feeling throughout my whole pregnancy and such. The lyrics describes how i felt losing my daughter in the womb. I found myself asking all of the questions in the lyrics asking god why ? Why give me this child to carry just to lose her ! This was my second miscarriage unfortunately and i believed this time everything was going so well . But god had different plans. I always say i didn’t deserve to be a mother , the doctors always told me it was nothing i had done wrong and really nothing i could do to save her but to lose my child at 6months was devastating. I named my daughter kahlani thanks to this song

I can literally feel him in me, he was supposed to dance with me this year at my 15 but he can’t now, I understand it was his time, but it for sure as hell wasn’t mine. I went to the park with my friend and there was huge puddles so it looked like a pond and there was a white duck there, it was the only one and it flew so beautifully. everything happens for a reason, I use to say I had no purpose in life and now that man that gave me everything I ever wanted in life is my only will to live, so is my mom but everything I do from now on is para mi viejito, te adoro papi, siempre estaréis en mis pensamientos y corazón mientras yo esté aquí voy hacer todo lo que necesito para hacer te feliz y orgulloso de mi. The problem is the pain from years of tormenting yourself about what you did wrong crashes down. My mom..... man. She use to be my best friend. She got with this man that is emotionally & sometimes physically abusive. One night he charged at her so i got in his face telling him not to touch her so he charged at me instead..... long story short he was in jail for a night & got a restraining order only for my mom to break it by sneaking out to see him & now he’s living with us again. “Damn it i needed you” i do, i do need my mom more than ever right now bc i am not okay, bc of her i feel so broken, i feel so shattered & we’re not even close anymore bc I’m distancing myself. But he’s more important, always has been always will be. I’m sorry I’m just not enough for you, mom.

This song makes me think of my ex. He dealt with depression , the relationship was great at first but his depression came back and began taking over him. I noticed it and I tried helping him but he wouldn’t he want the help. In the end he ended up walking away... and I understand I don’t hate him for walking away the way he did. He needs to love himself before loving anyone else. I couldn’t cure him. Now he’s in therapy and I just wish him the best. It hurts my heart.

I went through anxiety and depression because of the super toxic relationship with my mother. She abandoned me with my dad and I havent looked back at her the same since. She physically and mentally abused me for years and while I was there they'd always tell me including her why cant I be normal why cant i be and act how they want me to act even though I did all I could to be an exceptional kid. For 4 years at the end of everyday I felt like I was a useless waste of space that my mom had to deal with and some things she would yell at me made me question if not only was I good enough to be her daughter but if I was good enough to continue living. I havent talked to my mom the same in almost a year. Even though the therapists make me say it's not my fault i was abused so much that no matter how many times I say it In my heart i always say its still my fault and i deserved every beating every lecture every name called.Im scarred for life and still struggling to live day to day but I try

i was adopted at a young age and my adopted family raised me well and loved me with everything they had but i can’t help but feel a longing to wanting to know why i was the only one out of five kids they chose to give away. all i know is they gave me up but had four other children and kept them. i won’t ever have the same mother to daughter connection or i won’t ever get to meet my siblings and it just makes me wonder but this song just does wonders for me.
