Grantflip boogaloo word originated from Boog. Back in the 1980s or something like that, when people said "Show me your boog/boogaloo" it meant "Show me how you get down on the dance floor". I think it was Popping Sam who took the word boogaloo for his style which consists of constant leg movement co-ordinating it with your body to give the illusion of swinging side by side in a fluid way while playing with angles and levels. It is a kind of a funky dance style which was mainly utilised in funky music. However, the style reached its main state of popularity when popping was added to the boogaloo. Popping is the series of hitting by tensing your muscles and relaxing it at the right moment along with the music. Later on, Electric boogaloo was formed which consisted of poppers using sam's boogaloo and they are the ones who have huge influence in an international level of popping dancers. Although, other popping groups were also out there when Electric boogaloo was there but IMO electric boogaloo was most influential in the mainstream popping scene. However, now boogaloo is interpreted differently by different poppers that use the elements of boogaloo to create their own style for the sake of being original.

Shan Shin actually boogaloo goes before the 1980's in Boogaloo Sam's case that would be 1978 but the style boogaloo started in early 1970's with crews from Oakland dont remember if it was east or west Oakland. but they refer that style as Oakland Boogaloo since their moves were different then Boogaloo. you can ask a lot of OG's from the bay and they will tell you. actually you can ask LA OG's also and they will tell you

Kei would have won if he didn't drop his towel lol. You can see it with new KZbin, most of the audience replayed his parts of this battle.
