If you listen to it again you will hear 60% of voters agree with the cap, therefore that percentage could be taken to be representative of the wishes of those the 7 represent. That been the case they are in the wrong. Good sketch though.

*_There is no two-child benefit cap._* The SNP amendment was about the two-child *_universal credit_* cap. Not about any putative "two-child benefit cap." Because there is no two-child benefit cap. It means that leading politicians pushing this amendment either did not understand what it was for, or they were deliberately being dishonest and misrepresenting it. If the amendment was about what they were talking about in the debate itself, then even if it had passed, it would not have achieved anything because there is no child benefit cap. The two-child universal credit cap is _popular with voters,_ including Labour voters. It means that they were in effect trying to do what Liz Truss did, and see if it worked out any better for _them._ Except instead of unfunded tax cuts, it was about unfunded spending.

Starmer has said there is no money. That's a problem. Not that there isn't any money, but that Starmer is saying there is no money. There's plenty of money, it is up to Starmer whether he collects it by taxing the wealthy for example. Theoretically it's quite simple. Clever that you realised the majority was reduced by 14 and not 7. Even more clever, and funny, was the horse and whip joke.
