Adam's version has the passion and performance polish of a professional superstar musician, and that is valuable to be sure. But the gentility, fragility and vulnerability of Keira's version, with its unguarded lack of pretense, is literally exquisite and thoroughly heartbreaking. It seems to capture the purity and uncompromised sincerity of a songwriter with his/her precious material that seems to pour straight from their hearts and onto the page. Adam's version is meant to be performed for a concert hall full of adoring fans; Keira's version is meant to be cherished like a secret jewel... one human heart at a time.

Keira's version is better. The movie also showed this. Adam's version is commercial and he changed a song for fame. It is louder and more upbeat and overdone. Keira's version is authentic and real and original. Not that Adam is untalented or anything like that but this song was created for a movie to show that music means so much more when it is real. Maybe more people liked Adam's version, but that is the point. The public will like the song that is more pleasing and basically a copy of all the other generic pop songs out there but music is for YOU. If you feel the emotions of the song, the connections, that is music. That is the true version. If you write a song for fame or publicity it will not be the real meaning of a song. It is a commercial tune to draw people in. Keira's is real, heartfelt, music. Even the movie demonstrated it.

dvmbgirl i disagree with this, i feel the emotions differently for both versions, they say different things and due to the style i can think or experience them differently. I dont personally prefer neither over the other, i feel they complete each other somehow, i can't listen to just one of them. Her version is simple, truth or honest and sweet. His version has a bit more passion to me, more complex and hurt. Just what i feel like, i agree with what you say in your message, but disagree these songs are an example of it, both are heartleft, but they involve different emotions

With all the debate around Adam vs Keira, I haven't seen anyone mention that the soundtrack has two Adam versions. One is slow and passionate (song #1 on the soundtrack) and the other is faster and more commercialized (song #13). I like Adam's voice better, but I agree with all the Keira supporters, too. Her version, as it fits in the story, is meant to show a deeper, naked vulnerability. It becomes the anchor for the movie's message of passion expressed through one's art.

Alice Bz not fucking flawless, ffs there are so many people who will praise kiera's voice by large its ridiculous. Her voice is great imo but she has no power in it and the impact is weak, its just a feel good version, there isn't much to know, just go with the flow and dont even care about the words' meaning. Adam's version however has compassion and pride and proud vocals, it had depth and beauty to make the song feel like you were in it and possibly relate, kiera just made it sound like a sincere story, which ruined the lyrics.
Keira is one of my favourite actresses!! I feel like this song has got a vulnerability and tugs your heart which suits the beautiful lyrics of the song!!

The obvious symbols in this song are stars, constellations, astrological signs (Aries and Leo). I think this is a story between a sheep and lion representing two lovers. Their love seemed ideal, as compatible together as Aries and Leo in horoscopes, but this song is more about separation of two lovers when they were young (“I thought I heard you out there crying”). The singer now wonders if there can be reconciliation, as he is also feeling regretful (“Just the same”). The song poses a question: No matter the differences between two people, can it ever be that they can still love each other? As it alludes to the Bible, that a lion lie down with a lamb? (“Lion kiss a deer”) There is a similarity here. The answer: Young love can have partners that are selfish, too idealistic, and believing in fate without compromising. Partners break off their relationship then and there. Now when he is older, the singer realizes that the relationship he had before was great, and that a truly ideal lover is rare to find. If fate comes once in a million years, the YOUNG lambs who are “searching for meaning” are wasting their youth trying to find it. They are running from the differences (running from lions in the “hunting season”) when they should actually not run away, and make compromises. In conclusion: Have a little give or compromise in love. Otherwise, it is the common mistake that people make, and become like lost stars. Only a few people will click 100%, like lucky stars in the sky belonging together in a constellation, and who have met fate. The numerous rest of us are just shining. And does it really matter? You can barely tell apart a constellation from the rest of the stars. The lesson is that there is happiness in love even when it’s not perfect. -RidingMyBike July 4, 2015 at 8:55 pm

LYRICS Please don't see Just a boy caught up in dreams and fantasies Please see me Reaching out for someone I can't see Take my hand, let's see where we wake up tomorrow Best laid plans sometimes are just a one night stand I'll be damned, Cupid's demanding back his arrow So let's get drunk on our tears And God, tell us the reason youth is wasted on the young It's hunting season and the lambs are on the run Searching for meaning But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark? Who are we? Just a speck of dust within the galaxy? Woe is me If we're not careful turns into reality But don't you dare let our best memories bring you sorrow Yesterday I saw a lion kiss a deer Turn the page, maybe we'll find a brand new ending Where we're dancing in our tears And God, tell us the reason youth is wasted on the young It's hunting season and the lambs are on the run Searching for meaning But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark? And I thought I saw you out there crying And I thought I heard you call my name And I thought I heard you out there crying Just the same And God, give us the reason youth is wasted on the young It's hunting season and this lamb is on the run Searching for meaning But are we all lost stars trying to light ... light up the dark? And I thought I saw you out there crying And I thought I heard you call my name And I thought I heard you out there crying But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark? Don't you dare let our best memories bring you sorrow (because) yesterday I saw a lion kiss a dear

I came to the cinema in very last show of its premiere, this movie gave me so much feelings. So when I want to see it in the cinema again, it was over. I also watch this on my laptop many times but it will never give you the feeling like in the cinema.

Ever since I noticed this I cannot unhear all the times Keira Knightley is taking a breath before she sings.

When I was younger and more filled with passion, I used to relate more to Adam's version of this song. I was desperate to be heard. I'm still young now, but I have grown more mature, a bit. Now I relate more to Keira's version. I'm full of acceptance. I don't have to be heard by everybody. Having a few people around me who listen and understand is already enough.

I'm still keeping hearing this song every year, think about last scene when she already came to his concerts but finally she choose to left him. Music is her soul, no noisy, no showing like a champion. She wrote for love and leave for love.

They're not too many artists willing to leave the real sound on the track these days. I was blown away the two times I saw McCartney he let his voice crack and put it all out there on the line on every song. Still so amazing no wonder! Still I think it was a nice job producing this entire soundtrack.

After I watched this movie, I went to TIFF premiere for both Keiry's and Mark's new films. Unbeknownst to me, their premieres happened to be one right after the other, and I saw them arrive separately, just missing each other. I wanted to tell Keiry so much that "Mark was here, go after him!". A gush of the unfinished feelings of their relationship in the movie just rushed to my brain. It was nostalgic.

I like Keira as an actress, and I haven't seen this movie yet. As a singer, Keira has a lovely mellow tone, and I was surprised at her singing ability. Wonderful little track to hear by this gorgeous gal, and another musical/actress star to add to my list with Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Love Hewitt etc.

I really love both vesrions but I love more the way Adam made the song. Keira´s version is soft, flawless, sweet and very calm and it sounds like she getting out of a heartbreak an showing the other person that she didnt need them like she thought. I love her versión because its a very calm melody and when you hear it, it takes to a place of calm, her versión is amazing. Now here is my reason why I love Adam´s version and why its my favorite song. This song when ever I hear it, it mames me fiel special and in a safe place. remember when I watched Begin Again and I heard this song, I really liked Keiras version but when Iheard Adams it made me feel a lot of emotions of happiness, love, acceptance etc. When I heard it. They way Adam sings it, it show that in his voice like if he was actually livng the song and he wants you to get to know a new world. Adam reminds me of how much I am worth for and he tells that I am truly special and he can take away all my stress on this song. No song has been able to change this song from my favorite song and its the way that Adam makes me feel that no other song or version has made me feel. Both are very good versions and I love them, and lost stars will always have a place in my heart.
