hi! person who used to work for del taco here!! i worked there from feburary of 2021 to august of 2021, and I can tell you some secrets about why everything seems so fake: - The beef comes in frozen bags that are boiled in hot water to reheat, that’s why it’s so mushy and watery. -The sour cream isn’t a powder, but often times 16 year old employees are filling up the bottles and don’t care to check the expiration dates on the bag. - The “crispy chicken” is real chicken, kind of like how McNuggets are made, they’re puréed and then formed and fried. - The guacamole is made different each day, each employee is supposed to have the recipe but no one really follows it and we all just eyeball it. - The “carne asada” is the bags of frozen beef put on a grill and left to cook and then cubed up, it’s not actually steak, Keith got that one right. - The fry oil for the chicken and fish is the same used for the churros, fries, hash browns, etc. It’s supposed to be two separate fryers but unless corporate is in, no one cares. - The chili is simply the meat and the “red sauce” combined together to make it look like chili, it’s not an actual separate thing! Also, the company treats their workers terribly!! Don’t recommend eating there at all!! You’re lucky if the person making your food is wearing gloves, and one of my managers would never wear gloves and would go out for a smoke and come back in without washing her hands.
