Growing up a Bama fan NOBODY will ever replace Keith Jackson and the literal hundreds of games he called for us. But the many, many time I listened to him call Ohio St., Mich, USC, Texas, Penn St, Oklahoma and Nebraska games. He is, was and will always be the voice of college football.

This tribute left out the fact that Keith Jackson was the original play-by-play voice of "NFL Monday Night Football" in 1970. He called that first season of "MNF" before being moved to college football (and replaced on "MNF" by another broadcasting legend, Frank Gifford).

This is so much more than WHOA NELLIE !!! This great man was just a pure story teller. He told us of a simpler time. A crisp fall afternoon with the leaves changing colors. As a young kid growing up on the east coast, I loved how the seasons changed in the Big 10, whether it was an early warm September day in Wisconsin or a cold and rainy day in Spartyland in December. While I never listened to him on the radio, I wish I did. I can't wait til the first crisp fall day and college football to begin again. Thank you Mr. Jackson, you were definitely a part of my childhood and adolescent years !!!

College Football on television is not the same anymore let alone with ESPN doing the ABC Sports coverage now . Back in the days if you were looking for CBS Sports and did not see Brent Musburger , you're on the wrong station . If you were looking for ABC Sports and did not see Keith Jackson , you're on the wrong station . I miss Keith Jackson's phrases , etc . but somehow life goes on … even in College Football . - Dwight

Sorry Folks, achievements will be broken. Brad Nessler has now tied him, if not surpassed him. 3 hours of both and Brad wins out in total entertainment value. Plus, looking back at all the pointless Bo Schembechler/Lloyd Carr games Keith called kinda ruins the memories too. Michigan should self impose the death penalty. What a waste. 2 NCs in 70 years (and the last was a tie) and a ton of shoulda, woulda, coulda seasons.
