I totally agree with you!!! In my opinion the most important European Jazz Drummer ever!!! And i think there have must be a relevant reason for Jarett who played before with American drummers to pick up these European Cats and create a music which is so different from the typish American stuff he did before. And Jon Christensens drum style is the thing that made this " Hell of a Band" so unique!
@steverickenbacher71102 жыл бұрын
@@uweheitz5835 You mean Paul Motian and Jack DeJohnette did/do "typish" (whatever the foink that means) American stuff? Let me tell you something, Uwe. Jazz IS American. Don't you forget it.
@38bogos2 жыл бұрын
hopefully jazz does not belong to a country @@steverickenbacher7110.
@steverickenbacher71102 жыл бұрын
@@38bogos What I said has nothing to do with possession. It has to do with origin and identity. If you go back and read, you'll note I took exception to the phrase "typish American stuff", as there is no such thing. As a matter of fact, the implication in that post was the Keith's Euro Quartet was superior to his Standards Trio and American Quartet simply because the drummer was NOT American. Ridiculous.

not exactly my cup of tea, but undoubtely a great group - probably (with earlier quartet with Motian, redman and Haden - taht's closer to my taste) Jarret's best season (and a great Jan Garbarek... and Palle Danielsson!! what a bass player....)

Count your blessings....I was very fortunate to have witnessed Keith live in 1973 and 1974 at the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach with obviously his American group (Dewey, Charlie, and Paul)...what an amazing group....and now sadly Keith is no longer able to perform...fortunately Keith has left us with a rather large body of work...with which we can still be enthralled by his genius and his mastery.
