absolutely. And we are so incredibly lucky that Manfred Eicher went to so much trouble to document as many of Jarretts concerts as he could. They created an invaluable treasure of beauty for eternity.

Yes sadly I only got to see him once. I was fortunate to watch Keith perform a solo concert in LA at Walt Disney Concert Hall 10 years ago. He is my favorite musician and love playing his music on the piano.

Marian is a decent musician but not even anyway near Keith jarrett’s ability. The difference is about a million light years.
@echinopsritro4 жыл бұрын
In all fairness to Marian, she was 88 years-old when this was recorded; whereas Keith was about 60. So, that explains some of the "light years," although to be sure, they bring two completely different styles and points of view. I can enjoy them both. This was a wonderful radio series. I miss it very much.
@renakmans35214 жыл бұрын
I thought she played brilliantly here...was very surprised. Keith is always brilliant so no surprise there:-)
@Beyondabsence4 жыл бұрын
In terms of an arsenal of textures, colors, harmonies, virtuosity, yes, Keith is definitely ahead. But then, when she plays such a beautiful ballad in a very disarming and subtle way, these "light years" vanish.. She's never pretended to be more than she was as a pianist. I'm obsessed with Keith's music since 10. He's my biggest source of inspiration on the piano.
@chuckc73754 жыл бұрын
guscaldas3 I’m not sure that I understand what you mean by, she’s never pretended to be more than she was as a pianist, are you suggesting that Keith Jarrett pretends to be more than he really is? Jarrett doesn’t need to pretend, his brilliant playing speaks for itself. I’m sorry but I have to disagree with you about those light years vanishing. She was a decent musician, but not even one tenth the musician Jarrett is, of course this is just my opinion, and we all have them.
