5:10 - 5:50 - this passage goes to the books, absolutely incredible. The space, the tension, the timbre, the groove...it is like an entire jazz orchestra building up to a climatic moment. Ending the solo with Monk's Rhythm-a-Ning is pure gold. Thanks Jarrett, Peacock (RIP) and DeJohnette for the fantastic music over the decades. This trio is very much missed.

The most monumental moment here before anyone talks about Keith Jarrett here is the way Jack Dejhonnnete introduces Keith's solo for himself to listen to and go ahead with his solo.This is definitely one of the greatest moment's in the history of jazz for us listeners,trying to transcribe that for a while now.Anyway hope you have a great day!!

From a double bass player's perspective, the really happy face Keith has during what would have been his first solo chorus, and instead he prefers to listen to Gary and Jack.... that's priceless... What a compliment to those two all-time jazz masters...

This has all of bepop lifted to next level - Mr Jarrett’s solo is so funny, quarter beat lagging, just killing...all the bepop cliches are echoed but so freshly...they trade fractured quotes of bepop classics...these guys have musical telepathy and are having so much ****** fun...it’s Sonny Rollins exuberance in the sunlight...
@romarhollins3072 жыл бұрын
I disagree, I don’t believe this performance is any indication of elevated bebop. I’m a big Keith Jarrett fan, but I think this is one of his more forgettable performances.

Man I love how they build up all that tension and only release it very few times, it brings so much joy and excitement. For example how Keith very rarely places his chords or how Jack plays this dry ride and never switching to one with rivets. It’s like you can lick your favorite food but only sometimes get to have a bite...

You are entitled to your opinion, but i think the editing is spot on, always been impressed with Japanese productions especially the excellent issues of this trio. also the sound balance is some of the best I've ever heard. Can't really understand what you feel is so wrong here. Communication is the thing, and all the DVD's i have of the trio show you exacrly how they lock in and become one entity, one mind..anyway i can't really see how the production could be improved, all credit to the crew

This phenomenal performance of a classic jazz trio reminds me of how thoroughly enjoyable another phenomenal performance of classic jazz trio that I listened in to at the Music Department at Cal State Long Beach, one night, years ago. Some of these music majors are tragically in denial about how ingenious their thought process as well many other learning abilities they have always had and tapped into well enough.

@@talismangta5rp basically playing rhythm changes will substitute the chords for A part (B part maybe as well) as the legends have use the same changes to play different ideas. As you check Charlie Parker's, Monk or others, you will know surely.

Neto Figueira there’s no right or wrong speed. It’s more important to take your time with it. You get more out of really getting into one solo than you do with lazily learning 20 solos. And, the more you do it the quicker you’ll become
