Whether Keith had ADHD or not is irrelevant. His playing is beyond an attention disorder. That guy was as talented as they come. Will never be another like him, ever in human history.

He may have been ADHD - but he was also severely bipolar - reading about his life tells of periods of depression and inactivity - followed by periods of extreme energy and mania - this is bipolar - this is the greatest drummer and rock legend of all time...so complex and unfortunately hellbent on a path of self destruction with no way to "fix" him without taking his magic away....thanks for all the entertainment and kickass music you left for us Keith - you are still missed 33 years later......

Charismatic chap. Like Brian Jones, Keith looked way older than his actual age towards the end.

I always think the same thing when I watch live footage of them. How much of the time the camera is on him. He really was the focal point of the band.

Thank you for that nice comment in the longer video from ‘ behind the music’ , defending him. I have no idea how old the guy that responded to you was. But he had a bit of a nose in the air energy..no doubt. As if he was famous or any better and succesful. I doubt he ever saw KM or the Who live back in the day to appreciate the intense creativity and R&R energy. Sure.. for the younger ones it may not be ‘technical’. And so what? It’s Rock & Roll. But todays music, as well as with many bands that have come after the WHO, just can’t capture that same raw feeling and emotion. Those were truly the days. I had a friend that worked for BGP in SF back then. He got me backstage when the Who played Winterland. I got drunk with them all and had some great laughs. KM was as good as Robin Williams.. almost, as far as comedy. The highlight was when Entwhistle took me onstage before the show and let me play his Sunn stack. When we went back to the green room, KM winked at me and jokingly said.. “ when Johnny quits, we’ll call you, mate”. I’ll never forget it. I was also at the Cow Palace concert too. It was a shame to see KM slowly destroy himself...much like many of them did... Janice, Morrison, Jaco, Jimi. I saw them all. It killed me when one of them died. 😔 But it was truly ‘Our Generation’. And there will never be another as good, or that created as many memories and great rock songs. Todays music aint got the same soul... no doubt. If you were around back then you remember. And you know. RIP KM & JE. They’re up here with the rest of the heavenly band.. still rockin out. 🙂👊🏼 Blessings and peace to you. ✌️

Rikk Kazz thank you so much for the sweet reply🤗🤗🤗 Kind words mean so much now days in this “me” world. Unfortunately, I am a gen X...not born until 70....Keith died when I was 8 years old...I say unfortunately because I belong to the boomer culture in many ways....I have many (4) older siblings that are boomers and grew up on the music that I love...the best music ever made.... when I was about 8 I got a small record player for Christmas and when we were at a thrift shop, my mom told me to get some used 45s out of a box and pinball wizard/see me feel me was among the random handful I got....we were very poor, but very happy. It was by far my favorite record-my brother told me about the movie Tommy...I didn’t get to see it until I was about 12 and in the rural area I grew up in-I met my best friend about this time and she was 2 years older than me and a hard core Who fan...She was a fan of Pete...our other fan adored Roger....I was a Keith fan and we all adored John. I didn’t know KM was gone when I met her and I was devastated when she told me he died in 78. I have been a Who and KM fan ever since I started listening to music on my own. The are by far my favorite band-their sound is unique and it was the drums that made me take note of the brilliant songs...Keith’s played drums like a tympanic journey that make them very special, unlike sterile time keeping in most songs.I have heard so many stories...showing many sides of Keith...from hanging out with “Tramps” to crying and searching for Kim when she finally left him...he was damaged as all people are...but funny and sweet and generous and the epitome of the sex, drugs and rock and roll that is exciting and fun (but, obviously extremely unhealthy). He got trapped in his own persona of self destruction and it is tragic. Anyone that says he couldn’t play the drums is a musical idiot. I can’t stand toxic people and can’t understand why they think they need to litter the memorial tributes to other people’s musical icons...so I tell them about it. I don’t go to videos of bands I don’t care for to tell their fans that their taste sucks and it really irks me when people act all high and mighty by putting others down-if they were half as talented as Keith, they would have much more creative things to do than troll greatly missed gifted musicians that passed over 40 years ago.... I loved your story and love reading comments and stories from people that were lucky enough to see the live shows that I enjoy listening to and or watching and the super lucky people like you that were blessed to meet and interact with him and the band....so, that’s again for the kind words! God bless and Rock and Roll forever....reminds me of one of my favorite Kiss songs....God gave rock and roll to you....he loaned us his best musicians for a short time, but many of his musical angels couldn’t survive here, so their time was short and bright and their gifts should be celebrated......

For animal instinct music, you need an animal man on drums-for percussive genius in the Who-you need Keith-the best of both worlds-He brought Krupa to art and to rock and roll-Not too well guided-but his footprint in the art form of music is the size of Godzilla's and not to be denied-NO other drummer would have ever worked.

insane is a legal definition, not a clinical definition. Dementia is a deterioration of cognitive abilities due to age or age related illness (I mean 60 y/o +) His talent wasn't due to any mental illness. He was just an awesome drummer with an exotic personality.

Thanks for the tip. I am currently reading Dear Boy, Then I will try and get My Boy. I'm thinking that any of these books that cover him completely and get into his dark side, will talk about his abusive tendencies towards the women in his life. I think it's very sad that he behaved that way, unfortunately it is part of the total picture that was Keith Moon. I do wonder if it was because of the undiagnosed ADD he suffered from, or his excessive alcohol intake.

@swisscottagecleanairaction No. I'm saying that one incident that took his drivers life haunted him the remainder of his days, he saw zero humor in, and was actually the result of an accident rather than one of his pranks. He, and his companions were just trying to get away from an angry mob. No prank involved.

+JESSE PAPROTA My fiancée is 25 and has died TWICE (cardiac arrests) but that's what opiates and downers (Heminevrin/Chlormethiazole is BLOODY STRONG that's why it's so hard to get hold of and my fiancée got hold of them but he's got a VERY strong barbiturate/benzodiazepine tolerance so the whole amount of them didn't kill him - give it to a drug-naïve person and 5 would probably kill anyone) but yeah it's NOT that hard to die with chemicals and drugs believe me! There's alcohol then there's pills which in doses too small to see will put you to sleep and you won't wake up!
