He’s the rock n roll riff master, man. Even his hero’s, Chuck, Muddy, all of them never created as many simple yet ear catching memorable riffs as Keith.

yes they would not give Taylor and writing credits for that or Time Waits for no one the guitar work is the song. Plus as great as Keith is remember in 1963-4 Brian was playing LEAD SLIDE on "I wanna be your Man" Brian had alot to do with songs that Keith did after it was worked through. Like Street Fighting Man and Honkey Tonk Women which was done with Brian then the took him off and used Taylor when Brian was murdered. ps neither Mick or Keef went to the wake. Get your Ya Ya's out was Taylor shining. They say the good die young Mick n Keef will live a long time .. @@petaunotthoughtsintime

My all time favorite best of the Stones is Midnight Rambler. The harmonica and guitar blend so well into eachother. Just amazing.!

I didn't realize it was my favorite Stones song until I heard them in the New Orleans Superdome in 2019. That version blew me away! It's been my favorite Stones song ever since.

This list just scratches the surface as far as great Keith Richards guitar riffs. There are so many. Also, his acoustic guitar work has always been way underrated. He’s not the most technically proficient guitarist around, but nobody has done more with the skills that they have.

Damn what a great way to describe it, no one’s done more with the skills they have than him. Sums it up perfectly. Yes there’s way more technically skilled guitarists, but he’s developed a signature sound. Take him out of the stones and they’re in shambles

Few people know that it was actually Mick Jagger who composed the Brown Sugar riff. I was shocked when I heard Keith admit this. Keith said that all he did was some arranging and putting it all together.

"Don't Stop" is highly underated, largely because of its late release, but it has that opening riff that is just as good as any from back in their prime.

Dont forget "It's all over now". When I heard this on Radio Luxemburg 1964, I died a little! That riff went through my whole body!

Used to hear radio Luxembourg as a military brat in 60s and 70s in Germany. They played all the great tunes, well known and unknown.

I became a fan of the Rolling Stones in 1964 when I heard on the radio It's all over now, which had a real blues atmosphere! I was really blown away when I heard Love in vain, especcially the intro of Keith. But even more blown away I went when I heard Love in vain played by Mick Taylor. On youtube there is a video of a life concert in Texas (1972) where you can hear this fantastic guitar playing of Mick Taylor!

Good to see Time Is On My Side at #1. I don't play or sing any Rolling Stones songs, but the intro to Time Is On My Side is my warm up whenever I play. It's one of those things that I can't get out of my head.

* I totally "agree" with you ! ! * "Gimmie Shelter" was the Number One ( 1 ) song for Five ( 5 ) years' in a row during "The Vietnam War" and was considered their Number One ( 1 ) riff... * The opening riff and the words to "Gimmie Shelter" were perfect for "The Vietnam War" and many times took into firefights and battles... "Semper Fi" Mike in Montana P.S.: Even "The Rolling Stones" and ( Keith Richards ) would say..., "Gimmie Shelter" was or is their Number One song and most requested and Number One ( 1 ) riff... :)

My favorite Keith-song is Happy. It's the number one ultimate rock n roll piec. The intro riff the groove the lyrics and the way Keith sings and preform it on stage wow Nothing comperes with that. I saw him open up the gig in Scandinavia Arena (Gothenburg Swerden 1973) with that one Thats my number one all time.

Some of my favorite Stones riffs to play on guitar: “The Citadel,” “Rip This Joint,” “Dance Little Sister,” “All Down the Line,” “Monkey Man,” “Luxury,” “Miss Amanda Jones,” “When the Whip Comes Down” (Live version from Detroit, 1978), “Hand of Fate,” and some lesser stuff like “Wanna Hold You” and “I'm Going Down.” I also like playing that one unreleased track “Never Too Into.”

Citadel is a Golden Nugget. For me, his best riffs (other than the older Satisfaction and Jumpin' Jack) are Monkey Man, Can't You Hear Me Knockin', Gimme Shelter, All Down The Line.

The two almost never mentioned points about Keith is that he has been blissfully married to a devoted Christian women for many years and what captures my view is how graceful Keith is as he plays.

I didn’t mean that as a connection. He is just a very graceful musician and was always my favorite Stone, and I go way, way back. As an unconnected aside, as I was looking up mindlessly last night, (I am a Jewish believer,) I realized McCartney has been married to 2 Jewish women and his business manager is still Linda’s brother, and of course there is Brian Epstein. Omitted was the greatest if them all: "The Last Time". I took up guitar to try to play that back in 60's prehistory. I also used "Time Is On My Side" to sort silverware at Ken's Steak House back then. I think the "Time Is On My Side" riff begat David Bowie's starting riff in Rebel Rebel.

By and large, if there were no Richards, there would be no Rolling Stones. He made this band.Keith was the one who put this band together. Mick was a crook and a hunk, and Keith was a plowman with a guitar plow. I love them all very much: and Rony Wood, Watts, who left before anyone else. Hang on, guys, we need you, for now, we're alive...😮😢

These are all great choices, most of my favorite Stones songs. This really displays Keith's genius, and even thought Mick wrote "Brown Sugar" Keith played it. But as you see below there's much more than 10 great Keith riffs, he had a great riff for virtually every song the Stones did.

I would gladly swap Monkey Man, Can You Hear Me Knockin', and It's Only Rock 'n' Roll for Brown Sugar (Mick supposedly wrote that riff according to Keith's autobiography if I recall correctly), Sympathy, and Time is on my side. Also, Jumpin' Jack Flash should be #1. Strictly my feelings on the subject.

Time is On My Side is a great riff, I would love it even more if Mick and Irma Thomas did a duet to that song live. Irma actually recorded Time first, then the Stones covered it. I wish they covered it when the Stones were in New Orleans, it would've been an instant live classic.

Time is on my side was the first true rock anthem for me. Still Play it once in a great while. The haunting opening riff in Symphony for the devil still stimulates my music listening spirit.. ..

Saw them in 73 in Aus. Keith used Macawber all night long ad Mick Taylor was great. We played their songs for a few years. Great stuff. My favourite riff is the first notes of Honky Tonk Women. Those first two D and G played thrice, let you know you're in for a good one and playing. BTW Ronnie Wood complements Rrichards , and the whole band , perfectly.
