I think he's the poster boy because because he was the first one, the first guitar rock star. A lot of subsequent guitarists could therefor be accused of trying to copy an image, but not Keith. Because he was the original. (One of them of course, but certainly the most iconic one, image-wise)

This is a great time capsule not only for Keith, but the politics of the time. His lines about performing, and not only recording, apply today in 2024. He is still a performer. If you can? Do it. One thing he has never been in spite of his money and fame is full of crap. He has always been a real deal rock n' roller, and doesn't take BS from anybody, including the interviewer. The Expensive Winos were a good band, hence this promo interview. Unlike many rock stars, he was not " full of himself ". I'm getting ready to do gigs again because there is nothing like live performances. This interview inspired me, as I've performed for decades, and still can. Thank you for posting this.

The credit matter is mostly about : Sway, Winter, Till the next goodby, Moonlighmile, all Jagget/Taylor songs. Keith wasn't even in the studio much too stoned. But he never regret to steal thoses credits. My opinion is that Jagger couldn't broke with him without killing the band, only my deduction. I'm on my late wife account, but I had a 1952 Telly that Keith wanted really bad. I had given it to a well known guitar tech to do a little bit of work ... and he sent a picture to him and a recording of it as well. It was an early one, and apparently it had a pick up from a lap Steel, which was slightly different, then the usual bridge pick up. It gave it a really interesting growl... not the usual twang. Keith, I believe uses a humbucker on his, whereas this one sounded like a humbucker, but was actually the oddball single coils that sometimes came stock. It was tempting because it was Keith! But I don't think I was even gonna get to meet him... i horse treated my way to a G&L Broadcaster and some 70's, strats. Who knows... he might have gotten that Telly in the end!

From there it was Sticky Fingers, Exile & Let it Bleed. Fast forward to this time (1988) I bought the Guitar World with Keith on the cover promoting Talk is Cheap. Naturally I had to have the CD, which is very impressive. He had some great players supporting him! Looking at Keith at this stage of his life he had unbelievable charisma. Just like the journalist that interviewed him in the magazine pointed out. The way he opens a pack of smokes, & the way that he smokes is so rock n’ roll. Like others have pointed out, if you looked up rock star in an encyclopedia, there has to be a photo of Keith!

What I really like on Keith is, in this period, mainly this interview and ALL interviews with Keith at all - he's absolutely stoned by booze or pills or powder (mayby put all this stuff together) but I NEVER seen Keith is awkward! He's one from "the great" I belief what he says! He's a loyal and honest guy I think. I appreciate him as a honest human being, not only he's Keith Richards and got a lot of bucks. No I think, he's a "normal" guy you can hang around with, not in the way he's a VIP or the famous member of tha Rolling Stones.

You think he’s high in this interview? I don’t

@shawnc318 Hello, yap, I think he's stoned, maybe "only" by booze, but he is. But no matter, everybody got his own opinion! - Kindly regards

And even as high as he was back then, he was still making way more sense than 90% of nowadays 'artists'.

Dude, it was the '80s ...no one was sober then 😂 he was off the smack here, but certainly not 'sober'. Everybody and their grandmas were snorting coke back in the eighties.

Great interview, learned a few things. Always nice when the interviewer allows the person interviewed to speak openly. 😂

Keef was the before after point for white boy rhythm guitar… nobody laid way back on a beat and still grooved that hard

Lol. What was that guy thinking asking that on film? I know it was Scandinavia and all, but it's like asking a mobster how to dispose of a body or something on film.

Oooh!! That look Keith gives him around 9:26!!! Can tell he’s really pissed…, holding back. Like “Hey man what kinda STUPID question was that?!?…, ‘What kinda drugs do I recommend?’ What is this…., 1966?? I’m a musician and I’ve been a good ‘little citizen’ for going on fifteen years pal…., and you wanna focus on drugs?!?!?? Better back off…..!” I think the interviewer got the message there….. Right on Keith!!! 👍👍👍✌️❤️

message sent....message received. That look probably sent a shiver down the interviewer's spine

@ I think so. You can sorta hear him stumble a little. Keith’s attitude changes. Well deserved. Very interesting.

Keith's solo work and concerts with the Winos was awsome! Much better than Micks solo attempt.

And Mick had some great musicians with him, but he needs the Stones to make it work, or specifically, he needs Keef as sadly he's the only one left.

Keith said something that everyone should know and that is that everyone is the same. We were isolated into family groups and therefore we look different but we’re all wired exactly the same. And what’s interesting about that is that if you take any group, from anywhere around the globe, you’ll find that a certain percentage of that group tends to be ideologues and a certain percentage tends to be more reasonable.
