This was an old one, and not one Keith wrote. When Keith and Nicole married, Keith was very addicted to certain drugs and alcohol, their marriage started with him basically going into rehab for 4 months and she standing by his side, for every moment. This song has a very powerful message and he had a strong feeling about that message. Keith and Nic have been married for 15 years now and they have 2 lovely pre-teen daughters and God help the man that ever treats those girls in a bad way. He was not abusive towards Nicole, but he knew he had to get Sober in order to be "in their marriage" and that's exactly what he did. Keith is kind of an amazing guy. When another newer Country Singer had an alcohol problem and had to go into Rehab, Keith showed up and just sat with him his room to be supportive. Keith is a pretty cool Aussie. Definitely a Fav in my house!!!

Brantley Gilbert was that young man that Keith stood by and supported. Brantley is very open about his feelings for Keith. I happen to love both of these men! It takes a lot to be open and honest about your addiction. It’s nothing to be ashamed about. Brantley wrote a song called “Just As I Am.” When I was focusing on my alcohol addiction, I was going to meetings four times a day. I listened to that song going and coming every day. Even now, I cry when I listen to it.
@amykienitz63112 жыл бұрын
Very well said, I think he is a great inspiration to young musicians who fall into that addiction and are trying to crawl out. In the beginning I was wishing Nicole would walk away but so glad she didn’t cuz I think she saved him and gave us some great music. I think that’s why he paired up with Pink as they have similar pasts.

He didn’t write it. Keith is my wife’s favorite artist so I’ve seen him in concert over a dozen times. Not only is his guitar skills top tier, but every show sounds different in its style. I’ve seen him improv a 3 minute song into 5, play banjo and acoustic medley his songs. He’s the real deal. Check out his live songs. It’s an experience.

I watched my gorgeous and talented daughter live this song. The day I got that phone call saying, "Mom, he's gone too far. Can you come get us?" Was the answer to many prayers. This song came out while she was in that relationship and it made an impact. I wonder how many women got that final push they needed to get out. Ten years later she is the strongest, smartest woman, RN, and amazing mama and just bought her own home. If you're with a "stupid boy"... You can't save him. Just get out and find the life you deserve.

GREAT reaction! My dad totally controlled and kept my mom crushed, my brother did the same to a few young ladies until the RIGHT one touched his heart. He looked in the mirror and saw daddy, poured his heart out to her and they worked on it together, he died young, but had a good marriage with a beautiful strong wife. Yes, it isn't common, but every now and then, a person can realize and change.

When he plays this with a band, he plays electric and the song fades to almost nothing after the last verse, and then he comes in with a beautiful solo. This one hits me right in the guts every time. It's sobering to realize how much power you can have over someone who trusts unconditionally that you'll have their back, especially if you're not worthy of that trust.

I cant listen to this song and not cry. This is a strong message to everyone that negative comments, control over others has a lasting effect on people. I think this is originally a message to a man about his love, but for me it's how my father made me feel. 54 years old and his is the voice I hear telling me I can't, I'm not good enough, etc.. I love to cry to this beautifully sad song

Keith and his live performances are more deserving on this channel! Keith’s music is Passion. Stupid Boy is on his CD “Love, Pain and This Whole Crazy Thing” to date, his best work. He finished recording then entered rehab, delaying the tour. When he Toured in 2006, every show sold out in record time. Keith and Dustin, y’all should react to his live “Everybody” song to his fans from this 2006 tour. Singing, crying, thanking his fans for standing by him. I 100% agree the album version has nice guitar work and an end verse that he doesn’t sing live usually. Keith is amazing live on upbeat songs, but his slower ones he tends to do with just the guitar. Keith did not write this song but when he listened to the demo with his wife, Nicole Kidman, she encouraged him to record it. Many have speculated that was due to her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.
