Exactly. It is always necessary to disable the left when it seeks to define terms and forms of language, granting itself the power to define how things are and occur. Segmenting by skin color is racism, pure and simple. To say that something is "reverse racism" is to automatically consider that racism, the term used to define criminal insult, is the only and exclusive event that occurs when a white person offends a black person. Such a definition, if standardized, will provide arguments for even more distinction between human beings based on skin color. The pure juice of divisionism through which the left flourishes.

@@maybeitsyou1317 Reverse racism is not a misnomer. It is the term applied to a specifid subset of the broader category of racism. There are other subsets: Anti-black racism, anti-asian racism, anti-native American racism and anti-white racism. (There is not anti-hispanic racism, as I'm sure you know, because hispanic is an ethnic category, not a race-based one. A hispanic person may be of any race. But of course, there is anti-Hispanic prejudice and bigotry that functions against hispanics just as if it were a race-based construct.) Racism can be toward tiny minorities, larger minorities, pluralities and even majorities. Reverse racism is just racism grounded in the idea that white America did not earn the political and economic capital is owns, but took it in various immoral ways from other races: land from the native Americans; liberty and labor from black Americans; etc. And affirmative action, DEI, CRT and related philosophies and policies discriminate against the white majority to redistribute that capital to those who lost it unfairly. At least, that is the thought. It REVERSES the direction of the racism and the negative consequences that had historically been directed at the minorities and directs it at the majority in an attempt to remediate the wrongdoings. My issue with America is that you focus way too much on "races" (which in some languages cannot apply to humans by the way because it doesn't make any sense biologically). It hides all the issues America (and many other countries) has. About today's topic: poverty and how unhelpful the American educational system is to those who don't have the money (and poverty is not only what you own financially). Worst, by focusing on that, you create an excuse and a mindset to create "losers": if you believe the world is against you, it is not that easy to reflect on your mistakes (which is a great way to grow) and sometimes even hard to try as you will see anything that "triggers" you as racist. And for those who will talk about history, slavery etc.... sure, Europeans (therefore, white Americans because it is where they come from) gained a lot thanks to those, sure it didn't help current africans (btw today's blacks Americans might feel lucky to be born there instead of in a country where you have to do 10km by feet under the sun to get some water at a well). However, I believe history shouldn't be used to find the solution to the problem you face. Sure, it is a great way to understand where things come from, it is also great to avoid the mistakes our ancestors made, but is the solution in the past, I don't think so. Especially when no one from those times is still alive.

Not all jobs require high standards but once you lower qualifications for one job, then you have to do it for all jobs and that’s when you’re gonna run into problems. I am all for a diverse workplace but that doesn’t mean at the expense of lowering standards and ultimately excluding people who rightfullyhave earned the position. An Italian here. Never understood why in US there's so much debate about races and why them are label (label them "white, black" etc will create even more division). How a different level of melanine in bodies can lead to racism thoward someone is beyond me, cause if someone have a bad temper it will have it despite it's skin color or it's cultural heritage. Morgan Freeman (Nome Omen) gived the right path to fight racism, solely using common sense and intelligence. He advocates for stopping the conversation about race and instead emphasizing shared humanity. But there's some undeniable truths: there's too much victimism inside some political fringes of the minorities at my advice, expecially inside the Black comunity one. If you're a 3° 4° Generation European, African, Asian and on, on a civil prespective (so talking about rights, opportunities etc) you are not European, nor African and neither Asian, you're American, and as American as far as i know you have all the civil and social rights granted i suppose, so i don't get the issue to victimistically complain...unless the minorities are using that attitude trying to overtrow the socio-cultural standard of a Country with the desire to become an elitarian group and raise themselves above all the others....and that's the true racism.

I don't outright "hate" many things, but i absolutely LOATHE the term "reverse racism." Racism is racism. Adding a qualifier, like "reverse" makes it sound like it's somehow a lesser form of racism or that it's somehow justified in some small way. NO. All racism is bad. The representation in the super bowl ads, and most of the woke ideas today, come down to one thing. We look back on people in the 50s and before and think, "My goodness, they were totally on the wrong side of history. They were so wrong." People today are DESPERATE to not have that happen to them, so they're just taking "equality" to the extremes to try to make sure they won't be thought of that way in the future.

The biggest issue I see is that DEI is pushed and is in no way how human beings have acted for our entire existence. Granted we are the only species dumb enough to put malicious/incompetent people in positions of authority but nobody is perfect. Many of these students see the issue, but either have a lack of knowledge or are struggling to call a spade a spade. Many marketing firms, governing bodies, and more are filled to the brim with left-minded thinkers & no one is pumping the breaks and asking the best question. "Are we guilty of what we claim to be fighting?" DEI just like Affirmative Action screams racism to me because you're not incentivizing the elevation of skills and the overall merit of people looking to fill a position. You're giving away power to the unqualified, which can lead to destruction. I want the best-qualified doctors, surgeons, and medical staff because, in the case of an emergency, I want the best of the best on the front lines. This school of thought should be universal, but we have become a society where the parents believed the tough love they received was wrong, and now they see that tough love made them strong in ways they failed to recognize. That same tough love came with criticism but these children call that hate speech now, that tough love came with expectations which these children now call white racist expectations, the list goes on and on, but this weak-spined attitude needs to die on the vine. 16:12 As a black man I'm completely embarrassed at how daft so many black people are when it comes to the notion of racial topics, yes you are in a country where some of your ancestors were slaves. Do you know if your family owned slaves or were owned as slaves that's a conversation NO Liberal black person is ready for.

A young woman I used to know applied to a university and listed herself as Hispanic. She was turned down. (I guess they already had their quota of Hispanics.) So she reapplied and listed herself as Navajo. They could not WAIT to sign her up. With the exact same transcripts, so we know that grades and SAT scores had nothing to do with admission. Her mother was 3/4 Hispanic and 1/4 Navajo. What she never mentioned to anyone was that her father was 100 percent English/Scottish/Irish.... If she had, she probably would have been bounced out of there so fast her head would still be spinning. Interestingly, I applied to the same university about 5 years later as a middle-aged re-entry student. The university had some kind of agreement with the local community college of guaranteed admission (if your grades were high enough). Thank heaven for that guarantee, although I am actually a person of color. Beige is a color.

I have seen several instances in the last few years where a new "diverse" employee had been hired into a position that they were really terrible at but never got fired. What is it that motivates companies to hire and retain employees that have a net negative impact? Do they get extra DEI bonuses for doing so?
@theevermind3 ай бұрын
1. There is a belief that all people are the same and interchangeable. Thus, just because a hire is terrible, they think that they just need time/training/etc. to get them to be as good as a properly qualified hire. 2. Companies are given a ESG score (which includes DEI) like individuals are given credit scores. If the score is too low, then they can't get as favorable loan terms, and not having access to lines of credit means it becomes much more difficult to make payroll, for example. Alternatively, if a company has too low of ESG, then investment companies like Blackrock will exert pressure in the stock market to drive down the share price, such as by removing them from the funds they offer.

I don’t hear anyone complaining about professional football. Nobody thinks the U.S. women’s gymnastics team should have had more white women just because they are white. The left insisted on having a black woman on SCOTUS, but 2 blacks out of 9 justices is technically over representation. How about we treat everyone equally, provide equal opportunities, and choose the best person for the job regardless of immutable characteristics.

DEI undermines the meritocracy that had made America great.
@patriciaclay2500Ай бұрын
America was NEVER a meritocracy. From before its inception, it has deliberately stacked the deck in favor of white male landowners. For over 100 years, the US Constitution legislated the exclusion of nonwhites and females from even exercising the franchise of voting. Laws in every state, hiring policies, college student selection, etc., were not based on merit or even financial strength, but on skin tone. That is not a meritocracy.

I am not an american. I am not emotionally invested in this or affected by this, not directly anyway. From my perspective, the best way to have a "diverse" cast of actors, team oof any sport, teachers, etc, is to help those poor that show promise reach the standard. That way you dont get lesser quality, you dont get incompetent people in position they dont belong. What DEI is doing is lower the standards, throws to the garbage meritocracy. My personal steak in all this is that you guys provide the vast majority of the entertainment: TV/Streaming series, Movies, and games. The entertainment industry has been plagued by DEI hires and on their own they highlight how incompetent, immature and racist they are. These DEI hirees have a certain type of mentality and I think you guys noticed it. My issue is smaller than yours but it is why I am interested in how things go.
