Perhaps gold is the best investment to protect wealth. The question that everyone is struggling with is, will currency collapse before real estate does? At least with gold, one has the means to buy property or commodities in a depressed market.

Keith Weiner is absolutely wrong when he claims that using the legal tender dollar does not pay debts, it just shifts debt around, that is false. The legal tender dollar pays debts just exactly like gold or silver as money pays debts, the only difference being the government can print the notes. It would behoove Mr. Weiner to learn the subject before proffering an opinion on it. See: 31 USC 5103, 31 USC 3123.
