That's awesome that he is part of your family. I remember the it was announced that he had passed. It was a sad day for country music. He was an extremely talented artist. Left this world way to young.

Incredible...... What a talent, Rest in Peace Keith, your songs will live on as long as there is one person who will carry on your memory. I remember exactly where I was the day we lost you, your death wouldn't be released until Lori's plane landed and she could be told in private. We will always love you.

Mary Lou Reed I too remember where I was when I heard of Keith’s death. I was in California.. it was in the late afternoon. I had just come out of a Burger King and turned on the radio in my car. I heard the DJ’s announcement. I felt a cross between being numb and sad.. shocked! Then I heard the words I’ll never forget..”died of alcohol poising!” I was crushed because this was something that could have been prevented. It wasn’t a plane or car crash. It still brings tears to my eyes that such a very talented Man who had just hit the height of his career could be gone so soon😢

Isn’t it great how we are so varied. While I agree this is a wonderful version, I’d have to agree with the others that The Hag has the wheel in this one. I believe Keith would agree.....he wanted to be like Lefty and Haggard!!!

Love Whitley! I gotta go with Haggard's version too tho...

Keith was a mystery...a deep soul looking beyond life today. Lorrie was his love, but he too much for her to comprehend.. Like Hank, Keith was beyond what could be seen....he took that ride....today he's singing and looking down...

huge merle fan but keith's vocals had everone beat hands down. can't think of any other singer, man or woman, in any genre who could go from a baritone to a falsetto on the same note the way keith could. gotta remember this was a fairly unpolished version with jd crowe, almost like a demo cut.

elvis fan but his version sucked-too much pop, not enough mournful soul in it!
@jimmieroan98817 жыл бұрын
d'ascoyne you think elvis's version is best and this is second, are you even a country music fan, so if this man with the voice that could make the devil cry is second to elvis, then where do the dozens of other legends of country come in, in your mind. or do you even know how old this song is and how many have recorded it over the years. ive always been a elvis fan, but his only talent was his voice and persona, i think you sound like the other trolls that just can't keep their fucking mouth shut and appreciate the videos.
