when this was a new song, I'd play it on a small radio station that I worked at back then and other song's as it were... we had a list program to go by but could put in rotation what we wanted to, as long as the commercial spots were on time... good memories...freedom of radio back then...

Yes, I am upset this isn't on Spotify! I made a playlist on Spotify of Keith Whitely's best songs, specifically for the purpose to have burned onto a CD by a company on Etsy. This song was one of the songs I wanted on my CD. But I did a search at Spotify for the song and they didn't have it! Why do they not have it??? I see you pointed this out in your post you made 6 years ago, but how can it be that it is now 6 YEARS LATER since you made your post and Spotify STILL does not have this song?? Anyways, I went ahead had the rest of my playlist burned onto a CD. But it unfortunately didn't have this great song on it because, for some unknown reason, Spotify still refuses to put this song into their system.

Absolutely the most beautiful song that I've ever heard. After hearing his name a few times, I looked him up about 2 months ago. Absolutely blown away by this man.His music goes clear to the core of your soul. He completely draws you into his songs through his emotional delivery!! I truly can't get enough of his music. Researched as much as I could on him. How does a man die of accidental alcohol poisoning, with no evidence of liquor bottles around and the house is neat and clean? Randy Hayes you need to get your old friends music out there for people like me who never new Keith Whitley. I am a year older then him. This man has influence so many singers to get into the music business! Why has the Country Music Hall Of Fame, snub such a brilliant singer/ songwriter of his caliber?

This song is probably one of the most captivating songs anyone has ever recorded. From the second half of the second verse on, it becomes more captivating in a way I can't describe. And I like the hold in the tag of this song and its outro, not because it ends the song, but because it's so goddamn powerful! God bless you, Keith. You're forever in our hearts.

In college at NMSU, I was a disc jockey for KRWG FM, as part of my Journalism degree. I so enjoyed this. I did not know that we were looked upon as "Heroes of the Night".....because we responded to songs the dorm girls requested. It was important to them. They did not know my face, as Whitley sings, nor did they know much about us personally. But for those evening moments in time,..... and for them, we come through. No one of us DJ's really realized this at the time,......we grew into the feelings they had. Do not forget, we could not "see her faces" either,.......but it's kind of like having light love on the phone,....for a few minutes. And maybe they will call again tomorrow night,....wherever they are. Bless all of you for the past memories,....and now, .....in our later years, I bestow a tribute to some innocent, intimate moments for the both of us. Love you tonight,...........and always. Allen

I just discovered Keith Whitley about 3 months ago. Amazing artist who could sing the encyclopedia and we would fall in love with it. Not only is he mega talented, but very handsome. I have read everything that, I could get my hands on about this man. Am I the only one that questions things in his life. I would love to pose them to his good friend Randy Hayes, if I could post them privately. Any who, why aren't people burning up the airwaves with request to hear his songs, this keeping his memory front and center . I request his songs constantly on here and on Alexa. We need to get him in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Start buying up his music again. This song is so beautiful! Talented beyond belief.

I love this song for three reasons… 1) it’s Keith Whitley 2) I was an overnight DJ at a country radio station back when Keith still had songs on the radio. A sad day to see the news wire when he died. 3) I did meet the girl who used to call at 2 AM requesting love songs. We would talk all night. Things didn’t work out, but we’re still friends and chat on Facebook.

I love this song, too. There was a demo of this song, that I liked even better than this version, but I can't find it on the internet anymore. Beautiful. The waltz, Leave Well Enough Alone, is also one of my favorites. Am so glad that some of his demos were put into an album. Like others here, I sure do wish he were still with us.

Would have definitely had more number one hits than George strait could ever dream of. Even when he died he was giving George strait a run for his money and a damn good one. You know you're good when George strait turns your songs into number ones. Just like he did with nobody in his right mind and with does fort Worth ever cross your mind

Forgot that I already posted here. Just passionate about this man for some reason. Even though he had an alcohol problem, which I get, mainly because someone very close me did. Very lucky that my close " someone" went to rehab in Minneapolis, Minnesota like Keith did and is now a recovering alcoholic for 11 years now. Not basically judging but, but if the love of my life died tomorrow, I wouldn't be back out on the road singing 3 days after I buried him or singing a tribute song 3 months later without tears in my eyes. Let alone dating shortly there after. I've been married to the same man for 45 1/2 years. If someone's your soulmate or love of your life how does one move on so quickly? Just wondering.
@donnasmith83014 жыл бұрын
Either that means Keith Whitley never died which is highly unlikely or like you said with Lorrie Morgan messing around she was a heartless piece of crap. Keith was far too good for her but he felt he needed a woman and therefore he went with her. You absolutely have some great points.

There is no doubt in my mind that mister Whitley would have owned the 90s decade. I also believe he would have had more number one songs then George Strait. Because a lot of those George number one songs would have been number two. It's also my opinion if Keith had not died so young he would have been the Undisputed king of country. Also if Hank Williams had not died so young he would have been a tough one to knock off the perch. I believe it would have been a three-way battle for the Crown involving Hank Williams, George Jones end Keith Whitley. With Merle Haggard George Strait Conway Twitty and Johnny Cash close behind. RIP Keith Whitley, sorry you didn't get the help you needed, us fans miss you but to see the hurt and pain in your families eyes still some 33 years later, they missed out on you as a husband and father.

If I could invent a time machine, I'd take some people with me, we'd give Keith Whitley a good ass-whuppin' and we'd force him into rehab, like they did with Mr. Mackey on South Park! It's called "tough love", people! Sometimes we gotta show love in that kind of way. And then maybe, JUST MAYBE, Keith would remain sober forever and we could hear his music for just as long!

Okay, I have a stupid-ass question, but I hope someone can give me a smart answer. With his alcoholism the way it was, do you think it's safe to say that Keith Whitley was a "troubled man"? No offense. I post this in peace!
@shaneraleigh14987 жыл бұрын
Roger Barrett Definitely troubled. I think some people are born with a troubled, passionate mind. Mix in alcohol and people you love leaving.. That's a whole 'nother storm.
@rogerbarrett54227 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! In more ways than one, Keith Whitley was like Elvis. Didn't sound like nobody, had God-given talent, was a great performer, was "knowingly self-destructive", lived hard and died young and is sadly missed but fondly remembered. Again, thanks for the reply.
