I just returned a full (minus 1 teaspoon) jar of Primal Kitchen mayo to the store. Most disgusting tasting mayo I have ever had. "Cold grease" is putting a positive spin on it, lol. Just plain awful. Looking for a different option brought me here. Thanks for the taste testing.

Same. Last year I bought a jar of the Primal Kitchen Mayo to do Whole 30 diet, and used two tablespoons to make chicken salad. 🤢🤢🤢I returned the jar to Whole Foods the next day and threw out the chicken salad. The taste was DISGUSTING. Even recalling the taste right now as I type this comment is making me want to vomit. Hellman’s all the way for me.

You could totally use the primal kitchen one in place of butter in low carb grilled cheese. That’s how I used it. I was sad it didn’t taste as great as I imagined but I made use of it

Thanks for this review. I tried primal and had to throw it out. Just bought chosen foods one and it’s not as bad but I’m wondering how to “fix” it. Do you have any suggestions on how to make it taste better??

Yes! I'm eating it plain more and more, but when I first started I mixed it with my favorite (Duke's) sometimes 50/50, but sometimes even 75% Duke's and just 25% Chosen... it helped me get used to the taste. If you give that a try let me know how it works out! And thanks for the comment.

Sir Kensington avo oil mayo is better(not their organic which is sunflower oil I believe)...closest to regular mayo. What I did when I got that sour/tangy mayo was to take a ripe avocado and using a hand blender to mix it in....made it much less sour. Still not that close to actual mayonnaise...but it was a lot better with avocado mixed in. I think it was Primal Kitchen that I tried..but not positive. Sir Kensington is an adequate substitute for regular mayo.

I tried both and like Chosen Foods better. I’ve repurchased it twice. But now I think I’m gonna try to make my own... it’s quite expensive. And homemade is more affordable and I can make smaller batches. Great review!

Next time you're at Walmart, look for Better Body 100% avocado oil mayo. It's considerably more affordable than Chosen and Primal Kitchen, and also closer in flavor to the standard crap seed oil brands. It's probably a percent or 2 "less clean" of an ingredient profile than Chosen/PK, but I'm guessing most would still find it quite acceptable.

I just bought the Costco size jar of Primal Kitchen mayo . . . and I can't get past the 1st taste. I really thought that it had gone bad. After you said it tastes like cold grease . . I forced myself to try another taste . . . and you are Right On! UPDATE: I called the tel # on the jar to register my complaint. They were very nice and sent me 3 coupons to try again - or one of their flavored mayos. I used them to purchase the pesto and the garlic flavored versions. They both had an equal 'rancid' flavor. So . . . I guess this mayo has an 'acquired' taste that I do NOT possess and never will. It has absolutely NO similarity to traditional mayonnaise.

@@s.shelton3413 are you familiar with the 'Grocery Outlet' chain of discount grocers? I was there couple days ago . . . and they had a ton of 'primal kitchen' products. I don't think they're doing well. I don't get how anyone who likes traditional mayo . . . can also like their stuff.

It's a shame we have to pay a premium for "healthy"... I try to look at it from the stand point that unhealthy stuff is actually cheap, not normally priced because we are spoiled in the US by the lowest food prices in the world. When we pay extra for healthy we are really spending closer to the average cost in other developed countries. Just a little something that makes it hurt less for me! A little less. We’ve had PK mayo before and it’s funny you said it tastes like cold grease because when my mom tasted a salad we made with it she said it tasted like OLD grease 🤣. We will try the Chosen mayo. We normally make homemade with light olive oil. I like have ready made for every day use.

That primal kitchen mayo is nasty. It is gross. I tried it several times and I can't get over how nasty it is. I'm shocked how many positive reviews it gets. I'm not a picky eater, I eat everything but I just can't with primal kitchen mayo. Nasty!!

Chosen is the best if you want to avoid seed oil based mayo. Also they redesigned the container since this review so it no longer looks like a health food store mayo.

I would not recommend Tribal kitchen avocado mayonnaise ! It tasted gross and rancid and cost $11.59!!! It was not outdated. A big disappointment!
