As someone who has been playing for years way back to 2013, i remember flash light trading. And i remember being scammed by flash light trading many times lmao, also remember scamming people with it too. It was like the ultimate way of getting rares easily back then. You flash someone with your rares for like 3 seconds, and if they press accept they steal your rares. That and 'trust trading', where you trade someone rares and they have to trade it back. Good times man

Honestly my earliest memory of the game was sharing an account with my older sister. Our main outfit was a bunny with black top hat and black long. I remember her bawling her eyes out for a solid 2 days because top hats returned😂

Aww man this nostalgia hits hard. People barely change their name tags these days it seems. I still vividly remember fantasizing about being sent rares by AJHQ, and watching other people recording theirs. Great video!! Some of these features I didn't even realize I missed. I am nowhere near being an old animal jam player, but I remember doing the easter egg hunt; it was so fun! I don't get why they removed it. I've also heard of many of these facts. It's fun to do research on animal jam. Animal Jam has a cool history. I wish I got to experience it firsthand.

Eyeball hats got their rare tag earlier than some of the more iconic items of today, I’m like 95% sure they had the rare tag back in 2013 bc I valued them so much for that LOL also I remember when the bat wings didn’t have the rare tag because people would scam with those through flash trading all the time 😭 I would know bc I fell victim to it I remember when cream beards, planet walls, and spaceship grey were all the rage

I remembered almost every single one of these (the first aid center being the only one I hadn’t personally been in). I remember the day that gazelles came back- my friends and I had a field day with that one! We hadn’t been all that rare so it was hilarious to us that AJHQ decided to pull that stunt. I honestly miss spikes being in adventures though, I know it was horrible for the long term economy but it gave a way to build towards larger items. Wrists aren’t enough of an incentive to buy membership.

I remember when a lot of these things got changed and seeing this was very nostalgic, if you ever want to go to club goez, there is a party called the play wild party that is very similar looking to the original room, it’s not exactly the same, but at least it’s something (you can also host a party with a version of the room)

I also remember the old login, When flash was alive, There was no need to download the game. You would just google "animal jam" and put in ur login and start playing. Ever since flash died. Everything started its downfall. I wish flash was back :(

I miss the old AJ KZbinrs and old community. It was so much easier to make friends and have fun Edit bc i forgot to add this: i had the peach and teal gaz back when they were unreleased variants. Traded a red long and blue long for them. They got added into shops about a week later and i cried for HOURS

I remember when my sister and I first joined, we could actually send each other gifts on jamagramms! We couldn't actually open them, you had to get membership, but I remember sending my sister toys from the spaceship game because back in the day the more toys you had the cooler you were, and she was collecting them. Also, I remember when you couldnt change the color of items if you were a nm, and it was a challenge for us trying to get all the colors of an item, since you could only get them through trading. My sister got really upset when someone scammed her of her colored bunny hats, since she had worked hard to get them in every color.

I didn't even know some of these things changed, I've been gone for so long xD. But also, I remember when glitches were so common back then, like going on top of the building in Temple of Zios, I believe? My favorite were the underwater glitches where you could glitch a tiger in an underwater land or glitch a dolohin or shark in a land party. Everyone would see the underwater character in the party but the person who performed the glitch would see everyone's character underwater.

I started AJ in 2013 so I remember some of this- mainly the Blue Heron tutorial and always picking the police hat for some reason. I also remember seeing the membership cards in stores, and I think I got one once simply because I used to have the ice armor set and I think that was something that came with it? I played this game in almost the exact timeframe you mentioned, and decided to check out the game again this year and WOW it is so different now. I was wondering what was missing from the Plaza and couldn’t put my finger on it until I watched this video; I must’ve just stopped playing when it happened, but I can’t believeee they got rid of Club Geo that place used to be packed!! Also those Beta maps used to be so fun. I wish they kept them the way they originally designed them, but I guess that’s how the new Phantom missions and packs came to be. I don’t think I joined early enough to see the Beta medical room though. Not sure what the + means and why people can’t use it legally (definitely gonna look into that cause it sounds interesting) but I also don’t believe that’s why they got rid of it, cause they use it again at 11:06 at the new location haha

I remember playing the forgotten desert everyday for months for rares,i don't think i remember sleeping if i wanna be honest. (i was a crazy elementary schooler.) I started playing around 2013 or so and stopped in 2018. I was 100% one of thoose people calling ajhq,jesus i think i emailed them like 100 times and i got a bunch of cool stuff. The march adventure was so cool the whole st.patricks day thing, i remember only playing it for spikes :) and i think i got a founders atleast twice.

gahh, those name tags are way too nostalgic. also, the redesigned map was so cutesy.................. boutta fight aj society......... n After watching the gazelle horn part, i went to the wiki to see the comments on the horns, and the amount of people advertising their horns ft while they were IN STORES was funny but also a little infuriating. Those old comments also had some spicy takes, like just abolishing rarity in general by releasing all items to stores. and legit just reverting everything back to beta. also no one could spell gazelle properly (shout out to the gazzel-ers) its cool to see how diff people thought back then. i feel like i *should* remember the eggs and gazelles and stuff, as I played in 2014, but i do not remember them one bit. especially confusing because i had some of those eggs on my old account. I think another reason, albeit lesser known(?), for the dislike of the map's style change was that the Basement of Secrets became inaccessible. I'm actually not quite sure how true this was. If you know something I don't, please correct me!

You can still get into the basement of secrets. There's a way to get in. So when you get into that first hallway where the door is at the end of it in the corner, you have to light every single candle in the room. Once you do that, you open up your world map, and below Kimbara Outback, there should be an empty spot with green forest. You wanna click that area of the darker or lighter green forest and may take a few clicks or more for it to work. It still works for me since I've done this multiple times, but lmk in a comment if you were able to access it. 😃

Okay, I know that when you hovered your cursor over and clicked on doors there used to be an animation of the door swinging open with a creaky door sound effect.
