I was just cursing California gun laws, so thanks for making me feel a little better about my situation! Love my SU-16”CA”.

May I ask how much did you pay for it? Which model did you buy and is it new or used?
@zm0rc5 жыл бұрын
Just picked one up today used with a bushnell scope, foregrip, looks like an ar conversion kit for the stock and front rail, case and 1 mag for 750. Shot some rounds downrange today and it was awesome.

Another pro is when transporting the su 16 you don't need a trigger lock on it when folded undr because it renders it inoperable
@Blaren19 жыл бұрын
expendable36 You never have to have a trigger lock on when transporting. Imagine truck hunting with a trigger lock on? See some game...hop out, load the gun, aim...DAMMIT!! Trigger lock!! lol. Yeah, thankfully when transporting guns in Canada we don't have to have them locked.

Over time the slide will break the back cuz it's made of plastic then you have to send it to keltec to replace it

I think there were some problems with the production ramp up back in 2010(?), so unless you find and buy an old one they're fine. I'm sure there's defects here and there, but that true with anything. Over the years I've run literally thousands of rounds through mine without a problem. Back in 2014/15 when I was living in Grand Prairie I ran several hundred rounds through mine with the rifle similar to the ambient temp of -46 C/ -50 F to see if it would break as everyone said it would when it got cold. It did not.

It's labelled in .223 because of US export law. Had nothing to do with Canadian law.

Do you think that 69gr bullet would perform about the same out of a 16in barrel?
@ScaredStupid8 жыл бұрын
I suspect so...I don't think there's a big difference between the American 16" barrel and the Canadian 18.5" barrel velocity wise. Heck, if my 18.5 can stabilize 77 gr bullets I can't see the 16" having problems with a 69 gr.

Splitting hairs here. Great vid...BUT dimensionally there is no typical difference between .223 and 5.56mm rounds. Maybe the brand or type or batch of 5.56 you have is different but typically the only difference is the pressures. There are differences in the chambers of the firearms between the two calibers (with the throat as you touched-upon) but there should be no difference physically between the rounds :-) Don't forget also, S/A RIMFIRE rifles are NOT limited to 5 rounds. Rimfire pistols are still limited to 10 here though.

+blaren1 There is a massive difference...They aren't the same, the internal dimensions of the round, specifications and internal pressures are different. A solid rule of thumb, It is fundamentally unsafe, to mix cartridges - period. A 5.56mm Rifle can fire 0.223 , the other way round is not usually the case....Rather than confuse people with caveats and exceptions where confusion can lead to problems or unsafe use, it is much better to follow the golden rule when handling firearms to use the exact, correct rounds for the weapon system.
