Kel-Tec Sub-2000: a brief look.

It's actually a pretty solid starting point for constructing a really viable rig. But similar to a lot of AR's, it really needs a lot of add-ons to reach it's potential. I am constantly changing mine around, and have a scope on it right now and a new rail coming that will set it back farther towards my eye. I'm sensitive to optic distances.

Thanks for taking the time to reply And I will look ok at the light laser that you recommended. I do have several of the Streamlight Pro tac I flashlights so I am basically just looking for a small (to keep the weight down)laser that will mount on the Weaver type of rail on the Sub 2000. Thank you much

I just took the next size drill bit to the back sight till I was happy . And painted the front sight ,Much better.

I actually did the same. Helped. But for me, the issue has been getting my eye low enough with glasses and ear pro on to see through it.

I just found this video and subscribed to your channel. Good video I just got a Sub 2000 gen 2 for home defense for my wife as she is a 74-year-old woman who is not very strong so the Ruger PC carbine would be too heavy for her. And I like the lightweight of the Kel-Tec so I can put a Loaded Glock brand 33 round magazine with 147 grain Federal HST ,and Light and small lazer on it so she can Identify the target or Targets and shoot from the hip if need be. And still have a rifle she can hold up. And I figure the Kel-Tec sub 2000 will not be as loud as an AR-15 or a 20-gauge shotgun or 9mm Handgun when fired inside the Home, especially when loaded with the 147 Grain subsonic ammo. I will charge it for her as she is too weak to do so Herself and the rifle will be kept with one in the chamber, safety on as my feeling is an unloaded gun is just a club and an unloaded Handgun is just a short club! (Only my wife and I in the Household). And we both everyday carry A Glock 26, so it is ingrained for both of us to keep our finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. Anyway, IF the Kel Tec proves reliable that is the plan,if not then it will be tried with another Magazine and if that does not work, will try it with a different brand of ammo then if that does not solve the issue it will be sold as I won't have a firearm that is not reliable. I do feel like the Kel-Tec Sub 2000 is more than a Toy Though. Any firearm that will actually fire a round is potentially Lethal, even though there might be firearms that would be better suited for the job. Skillset, affordability, physical strength, etc all figure into the equation when selecting a gun for home defense. Again, good video and I will be watching your other videos. BTW what is the Brand of Lazer that you mounted and are you satisfied with it? Thanks

The Sub-2000 is a legitimate defensive option. However, for me, it's just a fun gun to take to the range. Thus, I'm not spending more than I paid for it on add-ons to make it into something it is not. I have plenty of other firearms for that. I have found it to be pretty reliable, though. And with a good modern 9mm round, it can do some business. The laser I got is crap.... I would advise you to take a look at the Olight stuff. I have a couple of their light/laser combo products and they're good for the price.

M-Carbo makes almost everything you need to make this awesome. They have an optic mount that moves the optic back to make it easier to use.

I have several M-Carbo parts for various guns. I think they make some good stuff. But they are a little on the pricey side for their sub2000 accessories. It would be quite easy to spend twice as much as you paid for the gun on accessories from them.

If u can get 1 in the $400's or less it's worth it. You have to do at least $125 in upgrades. Drill a little bigger hole in your rear sight. Add a compact flashlight...enjoy!

The offset iron sights are pretty cool. Do you get any blow back or brass in the forehead when using them? 🤔

They work ok. Not bad, but not great. I have since switched to a cheap red dot that is much easier to work with for me. Even with the offset sights, I had a very hard time getting my eye low enough on the gun to see them comfortably.

I would say that no matter what you do to a sub2000, it would never be worth $800 compared to what else is out there for that $

Try Extra EP9 it's a ar9 for $450. It's fun to shoot it's tactical and great for self defense 9mm. I almost forgot it also takes glock mags!

The is no way you can shoot that handgun as accurately as that carbine can be shot. The Sub 2000 is a great home defense firearm...but you say it has no defensive purpose...yeah, right!!!

It's virtually impossible to justify shooting in "self-defense" from a distance greater than 5 to 7 yards. At that range, I absolutely can put more rounds on target, faster, with my G17.

No. Mcarbo does make a mount that flips out to the side, but it's $150. 1/3 the cost of the gun itself.
