Nice to see mine isn't the only want that gets the jerks when it is running. Nice machine.

Yea. It doesn’t help that the table it’s on now has coasters. I had to put it on the ground when I wanted to have accurate cuts. I’ll definitely need to build a stand for this!

great job, the rotation does matter and the direction of the blade it is designed to cut in the direction of the vise so your blade teeth should be angled toward the vise
@eviltwinx4 жыл бұрын
I should double check the direction of the teeth. Thanks for the tip.

Hey man, great score, and that thing will last forever if you keep it oiled. You'll want to keep the slide ways and gears oiled up when using it, but other than that, power hacksaws just run and run, lol. I saw you put that motor on the thing and was thinking "but what does he have on his lathe now?", lol.
@eviltwinx4 жыл бұрын
Hey Chrip! Luckily, the motor you see isn’t borrowed from the lathe! Heh. I need to build a stand for this thing. It rocks and rolls when that arm is going. I gave it a good cleaning and put oil in all the places that needed it.

Awesome! I may have missed it but if that’s a 12” saw you can get new proper power hacksaw blades that are 12” long and much wider. Made by starrett. That will cut straighter and better. Blades should always have the teeth facing the saw so it cuts on the pull stroke. I have two power hacksaws. A small 10” iron mike power hacksaw. Which I posted a short video on and a 14” Racine power hacksaw. Which I need to post a video of. It’s a beast of a machine. 750 lbs of cast iron. Just huge haha. I use it for all my cutting. My horizontal bandsaw hasn’t been used since I got the Racine a few months ago. I’ll post a video if your interested . I really like power hacksaws haha. They are so neat to watch. Cut squarely. And are reliable
@eviltwinx4 жыл бұрын
Hey Justin, thanks for taking the time to comment - I really appreciate it. Luckily I also got a few NOS Starret blades along with the deal. You most definitely need to post a video of that monster machine when possible.

Awesome saw! What's the "springa ma thing" above the crank shaft assembly going up and down at 14:24 in the video? (The half moon shaped piece that has the adjustable spring tension on it.) Also, less than 90 seconds going through 1" rebar is impressive, especially considering 1" has a temper to it. The ol' HF bandsaws are good, though. I had one for years, but this thing... this thing is a beast!! :) Much better suited to your blacksmith theme. :)
@eviltwinx4 жыл бұрын
Hey Matthew! Thanks for checking out my video. I believe that spring thingy sets how much pressure the blade puts on the metal while cutting. This is definitely my new favorite tool for sure.
@jster19634 жыл бұрын
Great video and awesome saw! I always wanted one of those too. And where on earth do you get 1" rebar? Glad to see you back......
@eviltwinx4 жыл бұрын
Hey jster! Good to be back and thanks for the comment. Keep an eye out for one of these, it makes cutting metal so much easier and safer. I picked up some of that thick rebar at the scrap yard.
