Haven't seen any action on your channel for a couple years. Hope everything is okay. If you are still working on the truckPull the hood and rig a gantry crane over the engine. Just some 4 x 4 posts and a couple 2 x 6's across between the posts. That will be enough to get the engine out. Unplug the wiring harness and pull the motor and trans mounts. Remove a couple intake manifold bolts and attach a chain to the manifold threaded holes with longer bolts. That will let you lift the engine and trans as a unit. Much easier than trying to pull the trans off the engine in place. Good luck and hope it goes well.

Hey Bob! Yea, I don't make videos anymore. It's a big time suck and with my kids schedules, I don't have much free time. I still have my lathe and use it from time to time, but I'm selling it. It's too big for my needs and space. I have a smaller South Bend in storage. My main focus has been blacksmithing.

Hey David. It's been so long but I'm pretty sure it was one of two places. Either eBay or the company Clausing. You might recognize the name from Clausing lathes and they own Atlas. They still have original replacement parts to Atlas lathes but supplies are starting to run out.

Having scrap doesn’t just happen it takes years and decades of constant vigil and being the guy people turn to that gets you the pile of scrap It starts with one or two pieces found here and there and increases when you buy extra on every job And it gains a life of its own with people you know bringing you scrap

Thanks and I did tried that. I recently had to take the spindle apart to install the ball and spring that holds the locking pin in place on the bull gear. I was dreading doing it but it came apart pretty easy this time. I think I had a few burrs originally and that’s what gave me all that trouble.

Hi there. Am learning a lot from your videos. I have a similar, though not alike lathe I recently acquired. It is in pretty bad shape. I noticed from this video that you took the saddle off with the apron still attached. That apron on mine has two HUGE philips head screws that are pretty tight and I do not have a screwdriver large enough to take it off. But, I learned from your video that I can clean that puppy by taking the whole thing off. Thank you Thank you. I will subscribe.

Hey Lazy! I think I understand what you mean. For aluminum cans, yes, it's much easier and faster to melt them when they are already ingots. Plus, there is a lot less dross. The only downside is that you are using twice the amount of fuel but in my case, I had way too many cans piling up so I was ok with that.
