HAH! What timing, I just did a gradient this morning. :D Also, I am so glad you say Gradient instead of Hombre. I could never get on the hombre train. Been using Photoshop too long I guess. ;) As for barriers, I swear by tape. Latex just does NOT stick to my skin for whatever reason. I dab the sponge on the nail, and the latex sticks to the sponge, comes RIGHT up off my skin. So tape works much better. I did go without any barrier a while back, and was like "I always have to do cleanup anyway, what's a little more?" except it's NOT just a little more.. having used no barrier like.. quadrupeled the time it took to clean up. So yeah, HIGHLY advise using some form of barrier around the nail to make cleanup easier!! And finally, I'm surprised you didn't cover reciprocal gradients in this video! I know you've covered them before, but I thought you'd show one here. No biggie tho, it IS a slightly more advanced technique!

I have never heard of gibberish as a language like this. And then googling it found something similar but with different set of letters inserted. I suspect the different variants are regional (especially pre-internet days). I was a military brat growing up (dad in air force), and we got posted around Canada a bunch of times and I noticed subtle differences in childhood games (like hand clapping games and songs) in different places that we lived. Not huge, but the words or phrasing of one line would be a little different. I've only done horizontal gradients a couple of times, but I've had an idea for a vertical gradient mani that I haven't actually tried yet that I think would be fun.

I use a sharpie pen to mark a specific spot on the sponge and i line that mark up to the same spot each time and for diagonal lines I mark 2 sides to line up on. Give it a try it really helps to keep track of where the gradients go. And if each finger is set up different use the latex protector and mark the lines on the latex as well so you line up each one correctly. It really works and helps alot

I have a hell of a time using a brush to cleanup around my cuticle because I also have deep nail beds. This is my biggest frustration, and after having been using polish regularly for over 10 years, I still struggle to get a clean line around my nail. Whenever I use a brush to clean up my cuticle, it just smears it around and ruins the entire nail. I have used a real hair brush (like a paint brush), an eye makeup brush, and an artificial type brush. Am I using the wrong type of brush or too much polish remover? When you use the little peel off polish thingies, do you roll them down your cuticle? As in, does it sit flat on top of your cuticle or do you kinda push it down and wrap it around your cuticle to keep it clean? I have an issue where I just approach my cuticle and don't get it on there, but my cuticles harden and then the polish gets all bunched up in there. I would love to see a nail polish 101 on all the different ways to keep your cuticles clean (not how to care for them, how to deal with polish in/around or chipped from the cuticle).

@jenroses3 жыл бұрын
Cut the sponges down to a width that is just a little smaller than your nails, tap down on one side, tap down on the other, then do the middle. I use an E.L.F. concealer brush (1821) ($2 at target) with pure acetone for cleanup, and wedge a cotton ball between two fingers so I can wipe the brush every time I dip, then I dab the excess remover off on the back of my hand and that leaves the right amount for careful cleanup.
