Steve here! Appreciate all the comments everyone. I personally haven't played a Sonic game since the Sega Genesis days, so yes it was a bit of a surprise to hear the metal jams at first. Glad to hear that this has been going on for many years with the Sonic series. Also we really appreciate the additonal react suggestions and we will be adding some/all of them to the list. Funny how y’all mentioned Dangerkids Tyler’s on this OST as well he’s featured in another one of the boss themes alongside Kellin, “Find your Flame” Tyler previously was on the Sonic Forces OST for “Infinite”. The three songs on this OST WITH Kellin are the first three boss fights the other of the three being the second boss fight “Break Through it All”. I kinda feel like it’s the heaviest song of the three. As for the critique of the songs ending by getting quiet that is probably heavily from the fact that these are all three for Boss fights and the slow down in context is used as the wind down and fade out after a finisher on the boss cutscene that blends into the in between “islands” (major levels) cutscene. So yes they all slow down at the end for in game cutscene mood fade-out type reasons. Other good songs from this OST is vandalize my heart by One OK rock (the game uses a radio edit made for sonic frontiers. That changes the line “Fuck the pain away my bed is in ruins” to “Fight the pain away my head is in ruins”. ) this is used as a credits song on easy and medium difficulty. Though not as heavy as other songs on the OST other collaborations on this soundtrack were The hard mode credits theme is “One way dream” by Nathan Sharp (Natewantstobattle) And the games title song used for the easy and medium mode final boss (and pentultinate boss on hard mode) is I’m Here (Which features Merry Kirk-Holmes of To Octavia.)

Definitely one of my favorite parts of people reacting to Frontiers' boss tracks is the "hold up, this is in a *Sonic game,* what?" that inevitably comes from people who haven't played much 3D Sonic. This game went hard as hell but it really has been this way since Sonic Adventure. There's definitely some other highlights y'all should hear at some point, beyond just Frontiers' offerings- What I'm Made Of is one of my all-time favorites, and the Zebrahead version of His World is insanely good.

Almost everywhere I've seen on KZbin of non sonic fans playing the game/hearing the music they seem to all say the "in a _sonic_ game??" phrase quite often, admittedly it's the heaviest metal it's been before but still only by a small margin when compared to the ost of any Sonic game released since the late 90s. Just wonder how the general perception is so surprised to see the series do same thing it's done for the vast majority of its lifetime
@Sobol142 жыл бұрын

This is what happens when a game is almost as good as the music, not only the music and boss fights are really good, the game mechanics are good and the lore and character development is actually there, which is something Sonic games have been lately ignoring, Frontiers is a new chapter that I hope shows SEGA the potential is there, just do it properly.

This isn't even the only song that Kellin Quinn has done in this game. He did 3 total for each of the first 3 major bosses, and they're all great. You guys should check out the other two songs Kellin Quinn did for the next two boss fights, ‘Break Through It All’, and ‘Find Your Flame’. I’ve heard the former being compared to the kind of songs from Devil May Cry (Sonic ends up tossing that boss, a giant mechanical serpentine DRAGON, into a mountain to finish it off after chasing after it all throughout the island they’re on, while it flys away from him in fear) and the latter from the songs from Metal Gear Rising (fitting, considering in that boss fight Sonic ends up finishing the boss off by stealing the giant boss’s own big ass sword to slice him in half with). Most of the boss fights (except for the two after the ‘Find Your Flame’ one) in Sonic Frontiers are actually pretty dang metal in spirit too. (Also, you guys need to check out the songs from the newer DOOM games, the soundtracks for those games are metal as all get out. The Devil May Cry games have some pretty metal soundtracks too.)
