Yep! Totally agree Cal! My youngest brother and I used to troll badger hackle whooly worms on Davis, grew up in Portola, back in the late 70's and early 80's and SLAYED the trout! And that was just with plain ole mono 8# line and just dragging them around behind our 14' aluminum boat, with a minn kota 12v trolling motor on it, out from lighting tree...I laugh at those nay-sayers! It's cool, as I'll catch em while they talk about how it doesn't work! 🤣

Classic..how to play the big trout....the busier you got, the quieter you got...way to go Cal ! A bunch of that stuff about flourocarbon, and 4 lb test, and trolling speed...comes from fly fisherman. ; I used to be one. PS, having great luck adding eyes and splitting the tail of the Trix Magnum. I think my book is ready for you to read.

Today I caught 2 trout on your copper metal head fly with a wiggle disc. I feel the wiggle disc makes the vibration stand out and is different compared to most lures pulled in my lake. Very impressed and happy with my purchase.

After you catch a couple of fish the leader line gets damaged. Let people fish how ever they want to. I think you give good solid advise. I have been fishing longer than most have been alive.

I've been trolling fly's for trout for 25years and can attest that it works. Last six days caught three 8 to 10 lb. Rain bow's. I Tie my own but sell them for $100 each.

I agree Cal - never a problem here with trolling w/flies with 8lb Fl either with a wiggle disc or w/o. I think you have perhaps some FF? purists out there (or not) - which is totally fine - but hey - this is trolling - and when people troll and know - not guess - but know what works in their bag of tricks - leave it to that. If someone wants to wine or cry - let 'em go back home to mama and leave us alone and leave the fishing to us. :)

I troll flys with lead core shallow and with a dodger. My other Rod also has lead core with big flashers and it trolls deep with flys.
