My family has fished chicken livers for Stripers for decades. Just don't use the frozen ones, they disintegrate trying to put them on the hook. Fresh from the poultry markets is the best we found. Good video Cal, made one using chicken liver a few years back. They can be messy on the boat, but they catch fish big time!

I sometimes lay my chicken liver out on a cutting board in the sun and let them coagulate. If I don't have any Surgitube Tubular Gauze or they aren't cold anymore.

Beef liver is great also. It stays on better...but I always used thread, seem to always catch small stripers with both, and catfish love the liver scent Especially in the port of sacramento. I use frozen anchovies, better for the big stripers

Surgitube Tubular Gauze BEST WAY TO FISH CHICKEN LIVERS! You just make a little pouch drop it in twist the hook to close the top and run the hook back through it... catch multiple fish on one chicken liver!

I use this same method with crushed crab claws instead of wasting them like everyone else does.
