This is from 2004, and you can hear the very earliest signs of decay beginning to work their way into her upper register; the notes about F5 have a rasp to them that they didn't have two years earlier, in 2002. I saw her in concert....her voice is still amazing...don't get me wrong..but she can't hit those high high notes anymore...if she could..she would. The girl still blew me away in concert...but she never reached the highest notes that she did in this video....and she hasn't for awhile. Your voice can only take so much belting...and then the age messes with the rest. If I feel like hearing some high notes from Kelly..I'll only find that in her past stuff. Like this ^

She can easily hit those notes still she's just smarter and wiser about when she does. That's pretty much why she is still able to do so. She understands a healthy singer can't belt those on a year long tour every night and expect to have her voice still be intact in 20 years. Need proof? Watch her covers on her talk show. Also women's voices change quite a bit as they mature, age, have children and even depending on where in their menstrual cycle they are.
