Seriously, where have been all my life?! You’re awesome, I subscribed within 5 minutes of the first video I watched of yours. You reviewed Crossroads and the makeup was awesome it brought me back to that time in my life. I think I’m probably a year or so older than Britney. So I was right there, just like Britney, stuck inbetween being a girl and not yet a Woman. Actually as it turns out all I needed was time and a moment that was mine. Yup I’m a huge dork. I’ll leave the jokes to you.☺️ Seriously though I’m almost 40 and I’m still waiting to feel like a Woman. Please tell me there are other people that feel this way. ☺️ I secretly always really liked that movie but everyone always mocked it so I stayed quiet. 🤫😂 I love that you are honest, yes it has super cheesy parts but it also has some touching moments. Your sense of humour is just like mine.Thank you for all the laughs it’s been a hard year. I know it’s been a hard year for everyone but you wouldn’t believe me if I told you what mine has been like. (not to take away from anybody, I know we’re all struggling). Let’s just say being in a medically induced for 2 weeks and then having Open Heart Surgery were not the worst part of my year! I wish I had found you earlier. P.s I’m so sorry if my comment has a lot of mistakes in it. It’s from the coma. I tend to be awful at grammar, spelling, missing words,adding words etc... Stay safe and have a very Merry Christmas everyone! ⛄️🎅🏼🎄

I am a former film critic and have been watching movie reviews since I was 14. Your style is by far my favorite on KZbin. It's humorous and thorough without being mean-spirited or overly crude. Your movies also have a relaxing atmosphere that avoids being boring. I know nothing about makeup, and I found the makeup aspect an excellent and engaging twist to the typical movie review genre. Keep up the great work!

The singing scenes are weird because they don't follow the golden rule of musicals - you talk until the emotion is too strong to hold in, then you sing until the emotion is too strong, then you dance. If there's no emotion, it feels forced..I learned this recently and it really makes you appreciate a well done musical or musical movie so much more

I'm going to age myself, but when I just got out of high school, I took up doing private security, and one of my gigs was protecting this FUCKING MOVIE from its transport, to the booth, with the press coming in for their screening, and then back. There were metal detectors, we had to use nightvision goggles and everything to make sure they didn't have anything to record it. About 30 minutes or so in, one of the reporters rolled back limp in his seat, let out a hysterical laugh, and then got up and left. That started a chain reaction of reporters and critics leaving with laughter or curse words. It was very very memorable, and not because of the movie itself. EDIT: I felt bad for one of them, because she had a cast and crutches, so she had to choose dealing with this trash, or hiking up the theater stairs on crutches.

It’s crazy what these reality shows are really like. I was on a talk show when I was 17 which is nothing like the commitment of a reality show, but similar in the way that they are predetermined, edited to fit a narrative and absolutely exploitative when it comes to the the guests/contestants. My best friend, who was on that talk show with me, was on Project Runway season 5 (Kelli). They’re put through such extreme circumstances on these shows (sleep deprived, food deprived, they take away the clothing you brought if it doesn’t fit the narrative of the “character” they’ve designed for you, etc). I know people will say “you signed a contract”. Yeah. You do. A fifty plus page contract where (in the case of Project Runway) you don’t even have the rights to the clothing you make on the show. Kelli’s designs were displayed at various locations and forever belong to Project Runway. Also, people underestimate the power of editing on these shows. People say, well they can’t fake that you said that thing you said. What they don’t realize is, clips of people speaking are taken and spliced up with different happenings from various times to LITERALLY create situations that never happened. Say one person was quoting a movie. That clip will be taken and shown next to several other cast members at different times to spin a narrative that what was said was involved in a situation THAT DIDNT HAPPEN. I’m sorry I’m so passionate and long winded. I just don’t think the general public has a true grasp on how exploitative these contracts are and how manipulative the editing is. When in most cases these are just young people trying to make a career from their talent and passion.
@JennRighter4 жыл бұрын
Also, Kelly Clarkson is SOOOOO tremendously talented and also was the first winner of American Idol, so even considering this terrible movie, she fared better than most contestants or winners. Same with all of these shows. In general, being on these shows will ruin any chance of a career in the field. ANTM, as an example, it is well known that once you’re a contestant on the show your career is over. You’re blacklisted simply for being on the show. God I am insufferable but one last point. I’m not saying don’t watch these shows. We all support things through our purchasing or viewership that aren’t the most moral institutions. Amazon, anybody? I understand why we watch these shows I just want people to have a better understanding of what goes on.
@nachgeben4 жыл бұрын
@@JennRighter It should be noted that Simon Cowell only let Kelly on the show after telling her she was too fat and needed to lose weight, because she wasn't marketable. She was maybe a size ten at most. I think that's possibly why she's a bit heavier now, as a sort of, "Fuck you, I'll show you marketability."
@JennRighter4 жыл бұрын
@@nachgeben I think she's a bit heavier because of having children and being older, but I agree that the narrative about her body is really messed up. Even IF she was overweight it would be wrong, but it's so much worse because she was so slender and trying to get a thin person to lose weight is so detrimental.

@@JennRighter lbr however, if she wanted the weight gone, she could afford whatever surgery to make it gone. Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome for her to just be herself. But I do think we would see a different woman today if things weren't so ridiculously hard on her right from the start. Look at a lot of the older female celebs out there that are skinny--they paid for those bodies after every single child. That's why when Beyonce didn't seem to gain weight, people thought she faked being pregnant and had someone else carry for her (which I don't actually have a problem with, either, her body is important for her stage performances), all because they're used to female celebs gaining weight during pregnancy, and then having a 'miracle diet' afterwards. Hell, some have doctors waiting to take them off right after labor, so they aren't caught leaving the hospital looking 'unbecoming'. I agree. I know as a teenage girl at the time, that hearing Cowell say that affected me in some seriously negative ways, and I can't IMAGINE having that said to me directly. I imagine I wasn't the only one, too. It's why it's kind of amazing seeing him today, where he never mentions weight any longer. You are what you are to him. I'm not trashing Kelly, believe me! I believe being a healthy weight is good, but when you tell someone they are no good because of their weight, that's a problem.

You’re not insufferable you’re passionate and I appreciate your perspective. I was on a show (I totally forget the name for some reason) but it was about the host visiting different homes of different ethnicities watching that person cook then eat with them. It was about 20 years ago. Just the small part I got to see behind the scenes was so scripted and regimented. It really opened my eyes. I was also interviewed for a newspaper column that used to be about people’s homes and how we live (any type, like apartment, house, condo, and didn’t matter income). They spun my words somehow and quoted me as saying I couldn’t wait to get married. Or something to that effect. It was true but I didn’t say that. Or not in that context. It was in the big newspaper in my city. I worked at subway and my boss pinned the article on the bulletin board. So embarrassing. It made me look desperate to my then boyfriend now husband. So yeah, I learned how they can spin words too.

Also, your hooded eye winged eyeliner tips finally allowed me to get consistent winged eyeliner. Also, also, speaking of bad early 2000's hair, the Olsen Twins movie Our Lips Are Sealed would be perfect for this series.

I was waiting for a job interview, and the applicant ahead of me was so nervous. I gave her a huge pep talk, shared some of my fears and what I did to overcome them, and fed her a ton of real compliments. She walked into that interview so confident, and I asked myself, "What. Have. I. DONE?!!!" Luckily, she still bombed it, and was out in less than 10 minutes lol.
