I often listen over and over to Kelly's covers. She typically sings them only once, learning and reinventing them the day of the concert. They often are NOT perfect because of that. But more often than not THEY ARE BRILLIANT in spite of any flaws. Gaga is an excellent singer and I'll not fault her at all. But the things Kelly does vocally are very seldom matched. She is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

I've seen Kelly live 7 times in 10 years, and Gaga twice. They are both INCREDIBLE live performers. Gaga is more of a stage show with solid vocals and great heart mixed with all of the theatrics you'd expect. Kelly is just straight up the best vocalist I've ever heard live, and her crowd banter has just improved immeasurably over the years. They both have a ton of hits to mix in with covers and other songs from their albums, and after both shows you are left thoroughly moved and satisfied.

And yet again I come across fools here trying to obviously compare those two artists. Kelly didn't do this cover for comparison, get over it. This song suits gaga in so many levels, so do the meaning of the lyrics. That also exists you know. I think in case that Gaga whould see this cover, she should be happy, for the mere fact it was just awesome, and I'm honestly more of a Gaga fan. For God's sake 3spn4life and your octave range. Singing depends on much more than those so-logical rules. I couldn't care less about this, sorry to tell you. I've heard her singing Paparazzi - live and accoustic, Born This Way (song)- acapella, with great passion and skill. I have no problem claiming that Gaga is one of the few artists who can actually sing live and use their REAL voice. And her voice is being sound and dominant. Well done Gaga & Kelly.

++Steve Williams Gaga doesn't sing all that high. Haley Reinhart went higher than Gaga when she did it on Idol, (actually before Gaga ever recorded her own version) although I don't know if she can go quite as high as Kelly. Gaga seems to me very much a mezzo-soprano. Kelly has a tremendous voice but I feel she tends to overdo the embellishments and is too ornate. For me over the top, and it mars a number of her performances. Haley has also done a number of other songs also covered Kelly, but is generally more restrained despite her jazz leanings. Haley's Creep with Postmodern Jukebox is the best version I reckon I've heard. It makes an interesting comparison with Kelly's version.
