Love ELO, most underated, rock group in history. Always loved Kellys singing, especially on Above the Clouds, what a fantastic little song from A New World Record, and also a beautiful vocal on Sweet is the Night, from Out of the Blue

I mean, yeah... Kelly does live a bit in the shadows of Jeff Lynne... BUT.... considering most rock artists from the 70's, holy crap Kelly had one of the best voices of the bunch. Like WOW, what a stunning tone and the technique

Sad thing is that he's a way better singer than Jeff too. And just a better person in general. Jeff is a jerk

I am more moved by this one 4 person unique arrangement - than I was seeing Jeff Lynne's ELO live (which was still pretty cool). This arrangement is really nice especially vocally speaking. ELO never had this sort of singing power live back when it was Jeff, Kelly, and occasionally Bev. Even Jeff had Kelly take over some lead vocals during live shows so as not to strain himself. ELO Part Two has always had the upper hand with so many great vocalists about. This has allowed them to cover harmonies at a great level of detail. I am also reminded what an amazing guitarist they had - Phil Bates is so far beyond Jeff's playing. This is a great moment of his acoustic playing captured here. I also love hearing Louis Clark senior, reading his own charts and playing keyboards. The singing here is brilliant! Love the sound of Kelly, Phil, and Eric together. Such a amazing and moving performance!

I went to see ELO part 2 in the 1991 I think and they were great. I’m sure Bev was the lead vocalist. I enjoyed it. Kelly had such a beautiful voice.

Lynne's disrespect for his former bandmates is astounding. He could have included some of the Part 2 guys in his massive stage band and the fans would have loved it. But Lynne choses to have all of the spotlight for himself, calling solo albums Jeff Lynne's ELO.

@@visualizeprog2874 nonsense. Part 2 members decided (unwisely and without permission) to use the name Electric Light Orchestra. They were a very poor outfit. Saw them once and walked out before the end.

@@jamesjameson5707 Eh, they had the legal right to - Bev had 50% rights to the name during the period they used the name, and they changed it when he left and sold back the rights to Jeff. I can't speak to their live quality, though, I never saw them.
@jamesjameson57073 жыл бұрын
@@earthling3096 didn't say they had no legal right. Jeff objected and didn't give permission, so Bev settled. ELO Part 2 were garbage and not worthy of the name. You would have walked out too.

@@earthling3096 Well, you just saw them in this video - amazing musicians who did great versions of the music. They actually did things live Jeff never did - toured with a real orchestra, or used local string players live on stage to create the orchestra. Eric Troyer (the vocalist and keyboardist who was asked by Bev Bevan to join the group) is a musical legend in his own right. He sang on recordings with John Lennon, Meatloaf, Billy Joel and many more. His vocal range is amazing.
