This inexpensive, light weight, nesting attachment works with the Kelly Kettle system or is a stand alone twig stove. This is a must have item if you carry a Kelly Kettle • Kelly Kettle

I purchased an Otzi grill and a Kelly Kettle as part of my urban survival kit. I then cut premeasured pieces of of Oak, Apple and Pine branches and stored them in 5 gal. Buckets. I've used the Kelly Kettle on my patio with a penny stove. It also works well with charcoal. The natural kind, not brickets!

Good job on the entire kit.I have the Scout series and it works very good for 2 people tailgating or base camping. The entire set gives so many more options to the kettle and is so efficient with minimal fuel. Thanks for sharing

Bought a trekker few months ago after years of putting off the purchase and i LOVE it. its a bit small (i like to boil at least liter of water, but this one has only 0.8 or 0.7L), great for boil water for coffee or tea for one, the pot is more or less novelty item imho (too small for anything serious), everything else is just awesome. will most likely buy one size up, just to be more comfortable if someone else decides to tag along the camping.

When I pack my Basecamp I wish I brought my Trekker. When I use the Trekker I wish I had the Basecamp. The Scout is a good comprise.

Just FYI... You can put the grill on top of the Hobo Stove and be able to add wood while grilling :)

Bought The Scout kit after your review. 👍👍. I was thinking of buying a collapsible twig stove, but realized I could use charcoal in the base. Awesome setup.

I have an older scout, that I got off of eBay... I also bought the pots for the Scout, so now I can just make a meal.

With the chimey cooking system I've had no problems getting water to boil for food on top. Great video.

I can see this being great for a basecamp with multiple people and maybe justify the cost and size. For 1 or 2 people a one to two quart bushpot with a small twig stove mays more sense to me than even the Scout. You would even have room for an extra water bottle. As a basic water boiler, it seems to be a one trick pony. The video was great and shows me why this product is not for me. Thanks again.

The trekker is the smallest one. It's a completely different animal. I just got an Aluminum Trekker and will do a review soon. Thanks for watching

@@BurningRiverBushcraft my concern it is basically a water boiler. I’m more interested in pots that are multi-use, boil, cook and brew but looking forward to the review. I appreciate you expressing your honest opinions on products. Even if I’m not into bows and boats (or Kelly Kettles), I enjoy the vids and the skills you have.

I'd say if you have a long term basecamp then it is a great thing to get. Even if you're just one person there. I would leave it behind for trekking but for a stationary long term camp it seems like it would make a ton of sense.

I've got the base camp, with an extra kettle. I havent used mine yet, and I've recently started trying Self Reliancw Outfitters (SRO) Army style canteen, cup with nesting stove. If I'm backpacking, then I'll use the SRO, if I car (truck) camp, then I'll use the Kelty..it's just a size issue for me. Overall I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, the durability of the Kelty Kettle,..it truly is a complete kit. The chimney holds 64 oz of water, so you have enough hot water for your meal, drinks and cleaning water for your gear afterwards 😀 😉. I'll use the Kelty, if I have company at the camp, but if it's just me then, I may just opt for the SRO. .."Life is about choices " Be Good to Yourself, L.C.

Just for the comment on the size difference of the base unit on the Scout and the Trecker I wish I had seen your video sooner. With hindsight I should have gone with the Scout as I feel the Trecker is too small in terms of what you can comfortably cook Vs the size and weight of carrying the system about. You live and learn!
@BurningRiverBushcraft Жыл бұрын
The trekker is pretty small. You willing probably have multiple kettles eventually.

I appreciate your exploration of the base camp Kelly Kettle. I've been contemplating buying one for truck camping. Boiling water is one thing, but I wonder about preparing a meal with the hobo stove. As an example, could I use a carbon steel fry pan on the hobo stove to make bacon and eggs?

I just got my base camp stove but the fire bass part is very wobbly by itself and then when you put the kettle on top it wobbles all around I guess I either need to replace us or call for the warranty department I didn’t even use it yet and I see that is wobbling any ideas on that not sure if this is supposed to be happening

I just got an aluminum Trekker and the base is a loose fit. I prefer the loose fit. If sticks or debris is around the lip my Base Camp doesn't sit straight.

I'm glad they redesigned the pot stand to hold the fire base up. I've had my KK many years and my pot stand fits inside the chimney.
