JB JG while I don’t doubt there were those who reacted to the film generally and Rose specifically because of the race or gender issues, I think most of the toxic fans are just fans whose vision of where the series should be going did not match the actual film - and empowered by the quasi-anonymity of Twitter they lashed out at a convenient target. They didn’t lash out at Finn or Rey or the OG Star Wars team, because they were associated with a film or films they liked. The new girl had no such associations.

The Last Jedi is such a toxic phenomenon that anyone one in it is going to get some form of backlash, regardless of race, sex, etc. It's unfortunate because it's such a waste of talent in many areas...the horrid writing/script tanked the entire thing.

The only issue I had was with her character who was utterly forgettable, superfluous to the whole story and was terribly written with eye rollingly bad dialogue. My opinion is the same regardless of the gender or appearance of the actresses.

Putting aside the fact that those people talking shit about her are awful shitheads with no common sense, i very much doubt she would have gotten a fraction of the backlash if her character were written well, writers that actively shit all over long time fans of a franchise with their writing needs to realize what consequences it will have to the people involved, you could argue it shouldn't be a thing but that doesn't make it any less real.

I mean, not to be an ass... but she kinda said that she didn't want people to be subjected to scrutiny - for their actions. I'm so sick of this woman. She's a movie star playing a role in one of the most famous movie series of all time. These people live through their social media.
